PSA: This game might break your system, causing BSOD.

This game has caused BSOD more times than my whole 6 years of having PC experience combined.

I have tried several times and most of the time it could happen when you launch the game.

If you haven't experienced it, good for you. But for those who have experienced it, yes, you are not alone. This is an issue.

Played the game for about an hour, bits and places got laggy, then all of a sudden a really big lag then normal gameplay, not even 5 seconds later it freezes on the screen it was on and the other gives me the blue screen error that it needs to restart with the :( face.

Came here to find out if anyone else is experiencing it and found this thread. Luckily I just installed the 22H2 update, so after that the game should run fine with no blue screen right?

from what I've been hearing that sounds a least partly correct. it reportedly fixes the blue screen issue, but there's also been other reports regarding memory leaks and other performance issues that may be unrelated, so i don't know if i'd say "run fine" for certain, but should at least prevent full on PC crash

It is trivial to disable the malware-driver (ksophon_x64.sys) entirely. It isn't anti-cheat like they claim and as you all have likely experienced. The only purpose it has is to spy on people and report what they are running. It works similar to the malware driver installed by miHoYo (Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, etc) which does similar stuff of spying and no anti-cheat at all.

How do you tell a legitimate anti-cheat driver from a spyware driver? Disable the driver and see if the game still runs Spoiler Alert: it does, the game runs fine without that driver running at all.

I said this for WFS (Another Eden mobile ported to Steam) and miHoYo (Genshin Impact & other games) and now Hotta Studio/Level Infinite/Tencent (Tower of Fantasy, etc).

Things will only change when people nope out of supporting trashy exploitative game devs (from China and other regions of the world) who hate their English-speaking foreign playerbase and only want your money and time. Have some self-respect for your time and dignity (and system security) and walk away.

As for alternates, maybe go simp for Blue Protocol instead ;)

Standalone client was fine, more demanding games are fine

Literally installed it yesterday, played it once it was fine. Opened it up again in the evening and I've been fighting BSOD's since then. Eventually just decided to uninstall it because my pc is very-well specced, up-to-date on all it's drivers, is less than a year old and moreover none of my other games or apps are causing BSODs. If it was doing it on other high impact apps and before I downloaded TOF I would say fine it's my pc, but it's not. It's Tower of Fantasy.

My PC begun locking up since the Vera update. Random at first. Now it's consistent.

Ryzen 5 3600, Windows 11 Pro, RTX 2060 Windforce OC 6GB, 32GB ddr4. System is completely air cooled.+
I run most games I own at 1080P ultra usually with no problems. Yep even Cyberpunk 2077.

No bluescreens, computer just freezes. I can still move the mouse pointer and that is about it. Have to hard reset the PC by holding down the power button.

Last night every time I launched the game the PC just kept locking up after a few minutes.

Did some investigating, overall GPU temps are normal be lucky if the GPU goes over 75 degrees. But noticed the GPU 'hot spot' was getting to 96 degrees very quickly and never coming down. Once it hits 96 it's literally game over. Didn't matter if I was standing about or fighting a group of enemies.

Ran some other game like Genshin Impact and Doom Eternal, as above, maxed settings, no problems. overall GPU temps fine. the 'hot spot' though never went over 85 degrees when things got hectic on screen for those game and came back down fairly quickly once the action died off.

I'm going to re-thermal paste/pad my GPU this week, but clearly ToF has something seriously wrong with it if it's pushing hot spot temps beyond critical and is clearly getting so hot so fast the GPU is not even getting a chance to thermal throttle.

I'm going to avoid ToF until then and can see if the problem persists after the re-pasting.

Which sucks considering this is the kind of game where you need to be logging in every day to avoid missing out on sh*t.

But yes, I'm concerned Tower of Fantasy might be a GPU killer.

Even weirder as this is one of the least graphically taxing games I own.
