This game uses intrusive Root Kernel Anti-Cheat

Hi guys, with the launch of ToF on Steam I just wanted to inform those who care (I know some don't, in which case just ignore this :P) that Tower of Fantasy uses an intrusive root-level anti cheat which does not shut down after closing the game, and can prove difficult to uninstall. Closing words: I find it especially funny that despite having root-level anti cheat, there are still a lot of active cheaters on ToF as we speak based on some of the recently made threads I've read. Makes you wonder if it's really about preventing cheating, when cheating could be handled in a different way as well. Anyway, I hope this helps some of you out there!

It doesn't do anything in-game people were using Cheat Engine at the start to teleport people around. Not sure what they use nowdays but this program shouldn't be classified as an "Anticheat"

I just taskmanager after i finish with ToF To make sure it doesn't keep running.

Used to watch the guy back in 2019 till the cringy parts came in. he became an annoying coomer and his intro regarding of what you said is even more annoying. like idc about "waifu collecting" bait games, I'm there to see what games listed are worth playing.

Anti cheat systems are made to keep the ''script kiddies'' out and never stops the serious cheaters.

but yes i agree a anti cheat system like this is abit too much and should not be used.

no need to task manager when launching the game causes a blue screen within 5 seconds... can't even get to character creation or menu of any kind. ironic really... and on their support they have a section for blue screen and watchdog violation issues, and all they say in it is that it's a compatibility issue with windows and to try asking microsoft about it. they're refusing to even own up to the fact their anticheat is blue screening people that are running nothing but the game and acting like it's microsoft's fault (i even tried disabling antivirus and everything... still get BSOD on launch) while people are actively cheating on the game... ironic really. never had issues like this with any other anticheat from any other game in my life.

Maybe i am blind or I missed something relevant, but I read the post and I deleted the "ksophon_x64" file located in C: drive but I noticed that the last modification on the file was +1 month ago, and I have been played the game since launch, every day (and now on Steam).

Now I have a question: deleting that file is the same as deleting their Anti Cheat System? I want to erase all of this game cause it has a lot of issues that prevents me to keep playing and this one is... dangerous.

I tried to do the same in Genshin Impact in the past. Basically: It wont launch, you'll click "repair game" and all the files will be downloaded again.

Read a review about how this game uses such a trash anti cheat system, so glad I found this. Cancelled the install half way through. The fact this needs an anti cheat in the first place proves how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ its been coded. Plus, I didn't realize it was a gatcha game. Should've looked more into that. Gatcha garbage needs to stay in the east, nobody wants that trash here in the west. We want quality games that reward time and skill, not brainless $$$ spending.

After installing this game when it launched, I had more BSOD than I could count! Even after closing the game, while watching movies or youtube I would get a random BSOD!
I had to make a fresh W11 install in another SSD, I never installed this game again and I haven't had a single BSOD ever since!
If you value your system stability more than this game don't install it! Their anti-cheat could be considered malware, nobody know what it does on your system.
Screw this game! Screw this company! It ain't worth it!
