The Gacha Currency and Crystals from exploring world are limited you can get just over 50000 Crystal and Currency requires chips which come from Daily bounties.
Stop trying to lie to people, Thankyou.
The biggest gap new players are going to experience isn't between them and whales, it's between them and the day 1 players who've gotten 10 weeks worth of resources, regardless of spending.
Its one of my favorite games right now.
But you do have to admit that it has some p2w components.
The arena pvp is equalized(same gear and lvl for everyone, all weapons maxed),which im thankful for.
But some weapons like venus, the first premium they released, make a HUGE difference in the arena, frigg is another one.
Im currently struggling to remain in the top 100 of my server because almost everyone has venus and/or frigg, and you can only get them with premium gacha pulls.
You can get some of those pulls for free, thats true, but if youre unlucky and you dont get it with those, you have to pay for additional tries before the weapons are gone.
Should note at this point that ALL weapons are eventually going to be available for free later, without having to use the premium pulls.
But right now, none of them made it into regular gacha pulls,so its pretty p2w.
Most times others talk about meeting a hacker in the arena, they just didnt understand how the healing of venus works,so they claim to get killed by people with,,god mode'',because they always have full health.
Whales definatly are a problem in pvp, because they are more likely to have access to better weapons for pvp than f2p players.
See you again in 2049.
Maybe.
In pvp all gears are maxed out for each player. What can make the difference is having certain banners or not. Example, right now who pulled frigg or nemesis are favoured, but not invincible.
Compared to other p2w games, pvp in tof is pretty fair, gears don't make differences, only characters owned or not.
Different story is PvE leaderboard, where that's pretty much p2w, whale territory in the top5. However, if you play "SMART" even as moderate spender or f2p, you may still score top 5 in bygone for example.
Yes gear is equalized, mentioned that in another post.
Thats good.
But having certain banners does indeed make a big difference, especially when youre trying to reach the top 10 of the leaderboard.
Meryl/Nemesis/Frigg is one of the most annoying setups to fight against, and 2 of those 3 are premium weapons you currently cant even get anymore.
It doesnt mean you will automatically win,but if you got frigg and nemesis, and your opponent only has access to,,normal''weapons, you have a much higher chance at winning, almost guaranteed if you and your opponent are of the same skill lvl.
Im not that worried about pve since its less competitive by design.
But i guess there are people out there who care about pve competition, which sucks even more for them.
The game is f2p, but every so called "free to play" is not intended to be played 100% a such. With monthly pass and battle pass, roughly 15 euro per month you can have a significant boost in the amount of pulls for ->limited banners<-.
A 100% f2p, if planned ahead can realistically pull for a guaranteed banner every 2 months. Light Spender like the 15-30 eu per month, perhaps one banner a month. Providing playing everyday activities.
However, the pull capacity is not the only thing one should focus, but rather, choosing a META TEAM. As of now, the most complete teams are Frost, followed by Flame (Ruby or Cobalt-B must have). For Volt and Physical, untill Lyra and Tiang Lang are released, are still missing key SSR to be completed. Yet, anything could change suddenly with introduction of new SSR that are not available yet on global.
So, why am I telling all of this? Because efficient teams can depend a lot on how you planned ahead and researched what is best for you. New players will have SSR slector BOX, very important! For example, If you want to pvp, you pick Meryl for pve King. And still, you need to consider which charaters you are missing to complete the team you aiming for.
If you did diligently all the above, you can have a very competitive team without owning every banner, where skill makes most difference.
Thats correct, but usually developers try to focus on things that are,,convenient''or,,fluff'',at least when its done right.
Gw2,while not completely free(b2p)is a good example for this, you can even earn premium currency just by farming.
Money should never play a role when it comes to direct competition and players rightfully have a grudge against this.
Now,if someone would be playing 100% f2p,he has to rely on RNG to get access to certain weapons.
Even if you would use 80 premium pulls(which is a lot),you wouldnt have a guarantee to for getting the weapon you want.
Contrary to this,if you spend a huge ammount on the pulls, you can get your desired weapon 100% because eventually you will have 120 black gold to just buy the weapon directly.
Its just not realistic to rely on your luck alone,as a f2p player and it might take you many months to get a competitive setup.
You can get basic weapons like meryl for free and yes meryl is a very good pick for pvp.
But if you want to get really competitive,id HIGHLY recommend spending some cash.
You will always have those few exceptions where certain players make up for this dissadvantage with pure skill, but that doesnt change the fact that they ARE at a huge dissadvantage.
If they can beat someone with worse setups, imagine how well they would do if they had access to all banners.
The sad reality is that almost everyone at the top uses the same setups, with slight variations.
I was there, made it to the top 30 for a while.
You encounter nemesis spammers who try to perma freeze you from afar, and you get the usual meryl+frigg encounter which is really annoying to fight against.
Once i made it that far, almost every single opponent i fought, used 1 or more premium weapons, dont think i ever fought someone with basic stuff only.
Now i barely make it to the top 70-90 and even there its a struggle.
The higher you climb up,the more premium weapons you will have to fight against.
And people wouldnt be using them if they were not what they are:
Better than regular weapons.
