To the Moon
"To the Moon" film adaptation?
I'm sure game deserve to be filmed. Storyline is so strong and dramatic.... it could be a great film. What do you think about that, is it possible?

Freebird games is a small indie game company. The only way I see this happening is if some big publisher looks at the story and says, "Hey, this was really good!" But the problem is they would have to make money off it. I admit TTM probably woun't take much to produce (aside from the "Launch" scene), but the game will have to get noticed by a willing publisher. I don't think the chances are good.

That aside, games and movies operate differently when telling a story. Games gradually feed you it (think Half Life 2) while movies tell you things straight up, and only show the most important details. Several visual cues that were in the game (Joey's bunk bed) will be harder to reproduce in film format, and impossible in literature. Not entire out of the question, but difficult. The details would need to be very out of the way, so as not to be noticed until later.

if he was to try this then the Amazon Studio site would be the way he could get it noticed by others in the industry.

An animation maybe?
I think the game would make a great Anime film and/or series. Live action would be interesting if someone could pull it off.
When I played this game i thought exactly the same.
I think It's quite hard, but if It's done, I beg only one thing: use the original sound track.

The scenario reminded me of 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' and 'Butterfly Effect' while the characters surely borrowed aspects from several anime characters.

But even with only 3.5 hours to beat the game, I kind of imagined MY OWN versions of these characters and the story. So regardless of the actors or the movie, they would not be MY characters anymore. I'm even unsure about the upcoming sequel.
Games and movies rarely translate well into each other. This is a perfect example of story telling in the medium of a game; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
If there is a movie I would want Jessica Chastain to be the adult form of River! Is it weird that I imagined her to be River throughout the whole game?
It would probably be better as a graphic novel, actually! Or at best an Anime or just an animated film. It would be amazing! Much more interesting both visually and sound-wise with today's tech.
Call Studio Ghibli up and see what they do with it.
To be honest, I kinda pictured it as an anime with a somewhat similar style to Steins Gate. It definitely deserves it, but I am not getting my hopes up for it either.
If it was made into a film I'd definately wanna see it. If it was some kind of kickstarter project it be something I'd wanna contribute too. I know some games don't translate well to other mediums but personally I think this one would.
The story has the potential to be a brilliant film and the music is already amazing. The main issue I see is that they'd have to find actors with the skills to convey it correctly, and perhaps the ability to relate to their character, which would be very difficult.

If done correctly, it would be great, sure, but I already consider the game better at telling a story than pretty much any film I've ever seen. I'm fairly certain the film would just end up a slight, or major, disappointment to the fans of the game.
To The Moon would make an amazing film adaption, there should be one. :steamhappy:
