Try pressing Alt+Enter while playing the game and see if that doesn't change it to windowed mode.
2. Directional glitch
This is most probably due to what I would call a 'phantom' gamepad producing garbage inputs.
You can figure out if that is indeed the case by following the steps in this post: http://freebirdgames.com/forum/index.php?topic=3775.msg159352#msg159352
Let me know if this solved any of your problems.
As for the directional glitch, adding the Save3.rxdata file doesn't appear to change anything. I'm considering loading the game, exiting out, and then reloading the game again instantly before it syncs, and seeing if that can overright the Steam cloud data, completely resetting the game as if it hasn't been played. IF that works, then hopefully the glitch won't appear again.
I had just gotten past John and River's wedding (I can't believe I just realized another Doctor Who reference). Any suggestions one what to do? I managed to get through the next area without too much trouble but attempting to solve the puzzle at the end was nigh on impossible. I had hoped getting to the next stage would fix the issue but now I can't move at all.
Alternatively you can open the Device Manager and look at the (Human Interface Devices) HIDs.
It may be one of those acting up.
BE CAREFUL ABOUT DISABLING THEM - They may include your keyboard and mouse.
The few examples of this issue in XP games (Engine issue) which were succesfully identified all brewed down to the same cause:
A game controller was attached to the computer and later removed. Even just plugging the controller in a different port may cause the issue.
Mind you, most of time messing around with the HIDs solved the issue leaving the actual cause unknown.
As for the save: Loading it will unfortunately only fix the issue for the current 'session'
You would have to load that specific save every time you start the game.
