I recorded the game myself this week, and did so not by using 'gamecapture', but rather by using 'window capture'. This does make it show up in OBS.
Now for the size-issue... that one might be a bit more complicated. The only options for the window size are the tiny one, or by playing in full screen mode. Full-screen wasn't a good idea for me, so I opted to just stick with the tiny window... but here is where I did things differently.
You see, I have two monitors, so this might not work for you. What I did is that I 'enlarged' the OBS program and thus also enlarged the preview window (which was still showing the game itself). Instead of looking at the tiny window, I just filled the screen with the OBS program's preview, and I played by looking at that instead. It's still not perfect... but it did work out.
Hopefully this information helps you out.
