I have 100% this game, AMA / Tips
Tips if you're looking for a single playthrough:
1. Set Time to Slowest
Time works by changing scenes/areas. You can see this clearly if you set the time to fastest. So you need to get a solid grasp of where things are and their shortcuts relative to your map.

2. Talk to everyone twice in a row/back-to-back (Day and Night; so x4 total) because this is the only way to get orders to take back to the restaurants (orders usually done around lunch time or noon up until nighttime with the exception of the trainstation guy who goes home at night). Also, I would do this first thing every day and every night before you do anything else. and make sure to pick up herbs/fish/etc. on the screen with the NPC since that doesn't take up any time from your clock.

3. Idk what the DJ "game" does or how it works. You don't need to know either, you just need to talk to the juice bar owner a few times to get all the songs. You may need to actually play the game a few times. I don't know.

4. One of the final parts is opened up by winning the Rock/Paper/Scissor tournament. I hope you enjoy pain and suffering. The only advice is to start off with your weakest attack every time. maybe 1/20 times they'll not bite. Only exception is the kid with the brontosaurus (long neck dino) which is played at no.2 in the tourney iirc. However, it's still not worth ever picking your strongest attack out of the gate from my experience. either weakest or next weakest.

5. Load up on Vegetables at the supermarket, you make a few yen but you can also get the 300 yen bonus multiple times per day by completing 5 tasks. Near the end everyone has more than 5 tasks so you can make easy money that way.

6. Almost everything else is unlocked during the story at some point. It may seem like you need to solve some kind of puzzle to open something. Nope, just wait. As long as you're talking to everyone.

7. Every area/scene change resets fish and bugs but not plants and I believe that some fish and bugs don't show up until week 2 and week 3 so you can't get them all in week 1. Ideally, you want to make a (mental) note of each area and then spend some time in the morning (prior to noon), some time Noon and after, and finally some time at dusk (when the sky turns orange) for grinding out fish and bugs. A few bugs you are going to struggle to see but using your net around trees is a good idea. Some VIP bugs will have special animations where they'll fly off and come back. The one you'll notice is next to your house. I don't think you can get that one because it never comes back from what I've seen. but keep an eye out because some of the rare bugs will show up pretty prominently in other areas that you can see from the area you're at. If you notice a bug off in the distance, that's probably a special one.

8. I found all but 2 bugs and 2 fish just being a dogged but I couldn't figure out some. There's a japanese guide I found with everything on it but google translate won't seem to translate the page for whatever reason. So I had to manually click around and figure it out. The have pictures of exactly the places to go but the names are often different so check the images.

9. a thin carrot is like a ripe tomato. So when a large carrot is grown, just water it again and wait the next day to pluck them. It will shrivel.

*as a note, I'm not sure if there's anything locked to Night time. Their might be but you can only travel to a few places at night anyway. and most bugs and especially fish can be caught within 5 scene changes or less if you're in the right time of day so no need to go grind crazy on it like I did.

**booster cards are got when you buy chocobi. to open the cards, go into your inventory. There are 50 cards (that I saw). 10 types, 5 levels of stars for each. There might be 51 because no. 50 is only 4 stars and that one slows down the timing which is practically worthless. The only one I used was the level 4 and 5 stat boost. I think, perhaps, that the higher the star level on your booster card, the slower your special meter ramps up. idk if there's a tactic in there to use a 1 star booster or what. For the most part, usually specials would activate at the same time as your opponent.

Amazing, Thank you. You should maybe make this into a general tips and tricks / info guide because it could get buried in the message board over time.

Any advice on how to get Curry orders? I managed to get Jiro to order curry once, but ever since he's only ordered oyakodon.

Jiro does the regular curry iirc, and that's usually on week 2 or 3. The other curry order is the guy in front of the train station with the uniform. Talk to him twice. Now, I should mention here that getting orders usually only works during the day around noon or lunch time from what I saw. So if you're asking him twice in the morning he probably won't give you anything. I should add that to the OP.

I added to OP. Orders can be filled at night as well if you run out of time or you're doing sweeps at the other end. So you can get them in the afternoon and save them for night. Train guy goes home to stand by his wife at night during week 2 and 3 so you can't get orders from him at night. I also wouldn't wait til night to do Jiro's (DJ guy) even though I know I've gotten an order from him at night before because I ran out of time.

Yeah, they both only order oyakodon for me, regardless of what time I speak to them. Maybe there's some unlock condition for the curry...

EDIT: I'm an idiot. If you don't complete the request they give then it never changes, e.g if you get an order of oyakodon from Jiro, but never turn it in to Yoyoko, he will still order oyakodon every time you ask him until it's fulfilled.

good to know, I didn't even know you could get oyakodon orders from Jiro but I don't think I figured out orders until the end of week 2

Any more tips on how to win the dinosaur tournament?

I'm using the 5 star card (No. 40) that boosts all of my skills by 100 but I still cant get past the second opponent. I'm on week 3 so my 1st opponent has 700 hp and 2nd opponent has 800 hp. I've been at it for over 2 hours now... this really is just unplayable. Are children supposed to be able to beat this game??

In dino battles outside of the tournament I would occasionally get hints about what the opponent's next move might be, but I don't see those at all in the tournament. Is that a bug?

ah ha. yeah that's not a bug. Only the "easy" and "normal" opponents give you clues occasionally. The normal ones typically say something like 'i'm going to use this next move twice.' So they don't even give you a heads up for the next move but the one after.

The only advice I can give after hours of grinding it would be that there's a usual pattern where they'll stick to two cards like paper, scissors. Since I'm almost sure the cpu is reading your input, the best you can actually hope for is a tie or to beat them on scissors if they go paper. I'm only speculating but it seems like a bad idea to pretty much ever use your biggest power card. if you do then it feels more like a coin flip than a rps game.
Chika Ogiue Sep 10, 2022 @ 6:55am
If you can, save your power move until you expect your opponent to use theirs. If you both play it at the same time, you'll get the draw roulette. Whoever loses that will still have their power move drained. So if nothing else, you can attempt to land yours and nullify theirs at the same time. The roulette should be easy to win.

There's no way to save the game until you go to bed, correct?

Correct. There are rare autosaves at key events (you'll see an icon in the bottom right IIRC), but to manual save, you can only do so at the end of the day. This is the same for all Boku games, too.

@OP, after the "town event" in the end (or after the date event, I experienced both on the same day), Shin Chans love interest can be seen lurking around in front of the shop at night. I've actually missed talking to her, can you give a short summary of the scene that triggers?

(In a spoiler tag maybe, for other people around here.)

Thank you. :)

I honestly have no idea what you mean, if you mean what she says at end game, it wasn't a special scene that I recall. there's the wedding but I don't remember if there was anything before that
