Mosaic Censorship

Dear Shiravune, please remove the mosaic censorship from the game. All other titles by Sei Shoujo that were released in the West were uncensored: Closed GAME, Starless, Bible Black, Discipline and Heartwork.

All releases under ShiraVune always have mosaic since they operate under JP law & its HQ are based in Tokyo. Not that they can't do it if they try, but the laws aren't that straight forward so they're probably playing it safe.

Closed Game & Starless was localized by an American based company so JP law/jurisdiction are not applicable to them, so these two are the special exception.

They could have another company host the uncensored patches like Frontwing does with jast:

No legal issues there whatsoever.

As is they're just needlessly alienating fans by releasing censored games.

It's jarring how bad this looks when compared to Closed GAME which was just released by jast.

Buddy, don't pretend & assume you know how the law works. Frontwing doesn't have their own storefront to host the patch, which is why they outsource it to JAST & so they don't violate any Steam TOS.

Shira has their own storefront thanks to their inter-company relationship with Johren, so why would they host it on other website like your beloved JAST & incur extra expenditures?

Also, what do you mean by censored? The game isn't censored in any ways and the patch (to restore the lewd content) is available on Johren.

Mosaic isn't a censorship, if you're saying mosaic is censorship, then you're effectively labeling all the Western VNs releases with mosaic & JP VNs as censored since they are required to have mosaic which is ???? since you're reading this medium.

Mosaics are censorship: If an artist publishes explicit art depicting genitalia in Japan, without adding mosaics to obscure them, someone from the government will come for them, arrest them, and rob them of their wealth and/or freedom. Period.

Having your own storefront is fine, but fans shouldn't be punished for that by keeping titles censored forever. It doesn't prevent them from offering the game and/or a truly uncensored patch on another platform. By that logic Shiravune shouldn't even be on Steam since they have their own storefront.

Sounds like your hatred for mosaic is very personal. Will you die if you keep seeing mosaic, or do you have some sort of mental-related illness if you see mosaic? Just because they put mosaic on their titles, they shouldn't be on steam? Wow, impressive logic, no wonder someone gave you a medal for your ignorance /s

What about the other developers on Steam who puts mosaic on their titles? Have you complained about them too?

No one's getting punished here, It's a simple choice really; suck it up or go cry somewhere else. Viva la capitalism. Complaining about mosaic isn't gonna change anything, you can complain to the government of Japan & see if they care about your concern.

I share OPs sentiment. The mosaics are a huge bummer. I understand the laws behind it but I can't in good faith support this. I am sure there was a lot of effort and work put into this release. Which makes it almost even worse that there have to be mosaics.
And I have yet to see an eroge which was once translated already get another translation by a different company. Which means that unfortunately we will never see Great Deceiver in it's true glory. Shame.

If that's the case you might want to mention it on the developer's discord so they can fix it. Missing the ending CGs is kind of a big deal lol

lol Frontwing and Jastusa the games still have mosiacs. lol tell me you even know wtf you're talking about. lol you want them to violate Japan laws all because you want mosiacs gone. you're not that bright. the reason they source to Jast is because it brings games to the rest of the world. you have to convince the developers that it would be in their interest and worth the cost to go to an extent just to uncensor. lol

I posted a link. It's not broken. If you click on it, you're lead to a site where you can download patches that remove censorship from the listed Frontwing titles. Like for real.

I personally own Oppai Academy on jast and it is uncensored. I saw it with my own two eyes. lol

Censorship is when you modify the original game, there were mosaics in the original release, so mosaic is NOT censorship.
