This or Civ 5?
OK it's a trick question, I have and love Civ 5 but it's getting a wee bit old these days. I tried Fallen Enchantress: LH, but it only held my attention for 20 hours or so. How's this game? Focusing on combat puts me off a little; I rarely go for domination in Civ 5.

Gal Civ 3 is coming out, but for early access you need to pay into the founder's pack which is $100

It sounds unreasonable until you realize that the Founder's Pack is strictly for people who want to contribute to the development of the game, it's not really intended as a product price. We'll see that when the game comes out months from now.

This is mostly a combat game. Go play Civ V, you'll be happier.

Yea honestly, this game is definately combat focused. If you are looking for a more diplomatic game, then Civ or EU4 is were it is at.

The buildings and units have a wide variety depending on the resources and upgrades. While many play similar roles like tiered groups of ranged, melee and aeriel units, there are distinct differences between the units. Heavily armored knights or regenerating trolls? Flying dragons or swarms f cheap vampiric bats? Dragons come in red, gold, rainbow and dracolich. Each unit has its own voiceset and silly description. I love Civ, but right now I got bitten by the Warlock bug. Plus you can't cast spells in Civ to warp the land to your liking or swat a pesky unit with a fireball. Sadly there are no nukes yet. I think that's what the Great Mage really creates when he casts the Unification Spell. Mutually Assured Destruction. Also there are no great wonders or culture victories. I wish I had bards.

I'm exactly the same as you. I love Civ games, Civ V is really good. When I play it I almost never play domination. Further, I've tried Fallen Enchantress, but when I play that it almost never holds my interest for more than one game.

All that said, I absolutely love this game. It is more combat focused, but you don't have to go for domination victories. There's what amounts to a research victory, and one that can be considered an expansion/exploration victory.

I'd recommend you try it game. I can't guarantee you'll like it, but I wound definitely say it's worth a try.
