The Naga Campaign was Horrible! My thoughts
I tried a Small map for the Naga campaign earlier I did a big one so glad I did small map and I spent more time keeping the random naga monsters in check vs fighting a mage lord and thinking I am being threatned. Adding random spawns of Nagas is not a good way to invade the worlds nor is it realistic for random stuff to pop up. The Naga's should circulate from one world, but the developers know the A.I is not good, I'd rather deal with that then dealing with random Naga spawns. It felt like a job more then being Entertained. This has to be the worst DLC I ever played....

Onto the good, the Sandbox is the way to go.... At least I don't have to deal with the constant floods it is very annoying....

The A.I I don't think ever uses heroes or units and works to advance their attack rating and defenses and if they do I don't think they work in groups of 3-5 having an elite team dedicated to exploring/hunting and or going to war... It is not often or rare u see the A.I try to clean out the higher level worlds this should tell you the A.I is not doing a good job at it. Also it is easy to ally with the ally and park 2-5 units near their capital and defeat him... The A.I should pick up on that and instruct u to leave or its war time. Civ 5 knows when your parking troops near their borders...

With these issues resolved if ever this could be a great game... If u can play multi then that is where the game shines the most.

In Conclusion Warlock 2 shines with their sandbox game they where smart to add that in or this game would not be talked about much most likely these days. Also since battles play out like Civ 5 it shines there as I prefer combat to playout in this way vs a battle board.Warlock 2 style of combat encourages the A.I and you to experience more wars nearby vs a battle vs you and 1 enemy usually the case with Age of wonders so Warlock 2 shines quite well here in how battles play out. Exploring various new worlds, I think this is where they shine the most and is the only game in doing so since Age of Wonders 3 does not do that except with the cavern world underground.

Fortunately however, I think of this as a mixed bag since Warlock 2 shines in other ways thus increasing the fun factor which is extremely important to hold a gamers interest. One being able to explore multiple worlds I really like this, it adds a great fun factor to it, if the A.I would do a better job with attacking, defending, expanding this could be a greater game thus increasing the fun factor to much higher levels of being a true classical game and shining above countless other 4x games. Increasing their level cap would of been good, Giving the A.I more or better units I don't k now if this will compensate for making the game fun. The A.I in general if programmed better could make good use with 2-4 units then hoards of many.... A few well developed heroes can wreck havoc, It is rare or has never happened in my games to see the A.I develop a few well heroes or elite units....

Back to the Naga Expansion, I'd pass on it... The end fight was bad, I had to get 5 or 6 gold dragons and 3 heroes as the Channeler Naga went to full health every 4 or 5 turns.... Giving this Naga that ability as a means to be a big threat is a cheap way of providing end game content... That End game threat should be leading his or her charge into other worlds eventually working his way to your capital instead of you reaching his domain.

If the End game threat dies, his minions can raise him from the dead just like u do your heroes only to be the big threat again. I'd rather enjoy doing that then dealing with random naga spawns that are not even a threat at all ub tinstead more annoying since u have to manage more then engage into the real war that is taking place... In conclusion pass on the Naga Expansion unless u want to make a Naga Hero that would be the only reason but even then I prefer normal races instead of water. We know the other A.I's don't know how to do anything even more when there is water around which makes the game considerably worst, since their world is flooded.

I spent probably over 8+ hours dealing with Naga spawns vs dealing with the real threat in self. On a small map this is horrible, it was more going back and fourth between worlds to micro manage annoying Naga Spawns...And not a real army threat...I spent a ton of time terra forming lands back to normal as well, it got to the point I only wanted maybe 2 cities so I can manage better and use my elite team to farm mana and gold in the last world....

If Warlock 2 ever makes a DLC or a new Warlock 3 work on the A.I programming... Right now Age of Wonders 3 + Civ 5 has the best A.I Programming to Date

Warlock 2 does shine since u can explore worlds and it fights similar to civ5 which I love a lot about this game. If they work on the weaker areas of this game it can shine when making a new project.... Some say this game is abandoned it is not completely abandoned, I think it is a mixed bag since Warlock 2 does offer some good perks into what gamers want so do not think it's not a good game. Working on the weaker areas will only make this game that much stronger. Keep the good the same and improve upon that and work to improve where it is weak, it will be more successful and is good business and entertainment for the gamers. I hope this voice input helps.

This review was playing the Naga threat campaign, not the sandbox game. I did not even meet the Gorgon and you'd think she be in that campaign. That is a bit off when I think of it... As for the A.I that is across the campaign along with the sandbox as well, meaning the A.I is semi predictable for the most part.I don't think I ever seen a A.I actually conquer a Elemental world,Lava world or Dremnar world. Have you? The problem with Warlock 2 is u can remain at peace long enough to get 2-4 elite units with high attack rating and just attack the enemy capital by surprise....

When you start parking troops nearby, they should demand u leave or u risk going to war. Each A.I should have 1 special high level attack unit to protect their capital as that is their job for the most part and also assist with going through the few worlds on patrol but they primarly focus on defense of the capital... This would help this game a lot more.. In civ5 if u park troops near border They are smart enough well almost by telling u to leave, but I think u can still exploit it and say I'm just passing by not sure in civ5 if they do something about it though behind the scenes of the game.

In Warlock 2 when building units, They should set aside a % towards defense only but that only happens during mid and late game as no mage can defeat your capital city in the beginning. The Great mage should try to stack tier 3 units near their capital and some Mages play more defensive or offensive similar to civ5 personalities.... I know the Skeli lich lord and that tribal man seem to be the only ones who declare war a lot, but unit management and positioning of troops likely is far more important then a personality that declares war and some whom are passive towards you.

Some personalities should back stab u similar to Civ5, or back stab u in a special way where they open a portal so allied forces can go in to aid them in trying to defeat u and your job is to try to close that portal while the enemy mage is helping his buddy for reinforcements. So many ideas and things they could do with this game to make it even better.

Some personalities should focus on building more elite units only and less tier 1 while others want a mix bag and some build in making a hoard of tier 1 only to change their tactics to be unpredictable if they seem to be losing to much...

If they are losing to much they can switch their personalitiy just like a human is angry or happy so if they lose in the Lava world they say hmmm I should get 3-5 elite units and switch to such tactics for conquering that world... Or if that human is coming close to my borders I am going to stop exploring and move troops near my capital... Hopefully if they ever make a new project to factor in these tactical ideas to make this game better.

When you set up a game in either Battle for Outplanes or Sandbox modes, at the screen where you select the number of AI opponents you can click on the "?" icon for each AI opponent and set it to a specific Great Mage. If you want to play against Naga opponents, pick one or more Naga Great Mages.

Note that Naga opponents tend to be harder than the other races. So if you want an extra challenge, always add a Naga Great Mage or two.

People can find it here, Warlock 2 is a great game but the expansion is bad

Check out a fun game called Hinterland got it on ebay for under $5.70 but sells on Steam for near $10 bucks it is a fun game where u pick a hero type and background and conquer various sites and it is real time combat where enemies raid your village and you train your villagers to make u heal potions, raise food etc. Just like Warlock 2, Hinterland is a fun little game to dive into.

It is a random map each game, I also picked up Kingdom Wars 2 for under $1.20 on Ebay as it sells on Steam for $15 that is a real time combat game as well where its Orcs vs Elves vs Humans
