CoD (not Call of Duty, another rather obscure indie title) is a good, fun time! I enjoyed exploring the environments, gaining abilities, and listening to some really rad and creepy music! The graphics are just perfect, btw. It all culminates into something that I absolutely could 100% see sitting on a Blockbuster shelf in the 90s in the N64 section!

A charming little 3D-platformer with distinct and unique controls.

It's neither too hard nor too long, not at all complicated and confusing like its 90s "contemporaries" - something I very much appreciate here in this case. The game feels very relaxing, it's almost like falling asleep in your childhood bed.

Really liked the dreamy vibes, the "historically"-accurate lo-fi art and kinda eerie, liminal feeling levels. I also loved how the game turned to the darker tone near the end, I really like that kind of the final stretches in games in general.

An incredibly cute 3D Collectathon Platformer with inspiration from all over the place. The game can be played with keyboard and mouse, which is how I started out, but it feels so much better with a controller. The controls feel good, though I did have a bit of a problem on controlling Fynn after he would dive since you start to run after you hit the ground. This is fine, but there were times that platforms were a bit small and I would end up nearly or totally running off a platform when I didn't mean to. It also took a bit to get the second higher jump timing down, it kind of feels like it needs a slightly bigger time window to pull it off easier. The puzzles in the Snow World were also incredibly harder than the rest of the game,. I especially had trouble with the statue puzzle (I think it has to do with orientation?) and the star room puzzle. I needed a guide to figure out those. And the final fight with the main villain was much harder than it needed to be because the way the camera is panned out, it's hard to tell depth.

BUT I will say that the ending cutscene of the game completely snuffed any amount of anger I had after finally beating it. This game is seriously adorable. If the developer is planning a sequel or another platformer, I would definitely be looking forward to it.

I enjoyed this game! It's charming and cute. It makes me feel nostalgic for the Nintendo 64 era. The developers did a great job capturing the classic vibes. If you love classic platforming games like Banjo-Kazooie, definitely give this game a chance!

very faithful for a classic N64 game, but with some modern tech for quality of life.

As a fan of Donkey Kong 64 and Super Mario 64 as a kid, I really appreciate the retro style along with the open-zone Collectathon gameplay. I only ever got to play Banjo-Kazooie later on when I downloaded an emulator, but I see the DNA of those games in this title as well.

Inspirations aside, this game stands on its own with a distinct style and smooth gameplay. I love the movement options that you start out with and unlock through the course of the game. Sage does a good job of teaching the player how to use basic controls and maneuvers, but you can also learn a bit of advanced "Schmoovement" on your own with a bit of experimentation and expert timing. The platforming aspects give enough room for both beginners and veterans to complete the game at their own pace. The puzzles are great too, but the only one I really got stuck on was the one in Prismatic Palace.

Each of the four worlds exterior to the Cavern of Dreams have a distinct theme to them, and each have a friendly resident that you help along the way. You'll collect eggs, mushrooms, and Encyclopedia pages through each world and even the main hub with little sub-sections here and there. Each world also has a more challenging egg to grab that you'll probably save for last before exiting the world. In some of the later sections, you'll even open up shortcuts to the other worlds to solve puzzles and even find secrets. Overall, this game has amazingly good design to it, and I am glad I got to play it all the way through.

P.S. Even when you've collected everything, there's still more optional secrets to find using a certain endgame upgrade. If you pay enough attention to the Encyclopedia and your environment, you can also catch some backstory to this world. I had fun piecing together what happened before Fynn arrives in the Caverns, and I hope you do too.
