Far too many retro throwback platformers have been doing that as of late, so I'd like to have one that is just an actual throwback and not a cheap jumpscare fest.

thanks for asking - no, there isn't! while there are some strange, nightmarish areas/antagonists to overcome, it's nothing more creepy than anything in, say, majora's mask, and certainly not gorey, jump-scary, or "meta". i hope that answers your question! it's my goal for this game to feel authentic to the feeling of the time period.
