Deer and Hare Lures
I've laid some deer lures and hare lures but nothing ever comes around and the trap disappears after a little while. Anyone else having issues with them?

That is how they function; Lures use food to attract an animal, and over time will become useless. if there are no such animals in the area, they will attract none. The lures work well enough if you find an area that normally has a few of the creature you're luring, then plonk the lure down and wait a while. Hunting in this game is actually pretty well done in terms of realism; the animals will see/smell/hear you become wary and bolt.

The bolting is fine I've played other games that are like that, but not sure why I thought planting a lure anywhere would work, didn't know it was a little more into it. I like it though cause it makes sense really if you think about it. Thanks for the reply.

Put the lure in your hotbar, select it and left click while looking at the ground to place it.

I also have zero luck with lures. No hare ever appears. Maybe they only work in area's where hares normally spawn. But in those area's I don't need lures to find and shoot the hares. I may be missing something, but at the moment I haven't found any use for lures.

I think the main advantage of the lures is that they create a small zone where the hare or deer will stay still for a little while so you don't need to try and track its movement. Otherwise, you still need to hunt in the zones where they normally spawn.

Yeah, the Lures technically aren't needed. You can hunt hares on the road just east of the merchant; the one found just south of the pond. Each time you go into that area about 5 hares will be running around.

There's also a spot west of the merchant, where the road forks by a cluster of trees that will spawn lots of Bucks; 4-5 total animals with 1-2 being Bucks. That should help you clear the hunting quests. Wolves spawn in a group of 3-4 north of the merchant as you go into the mountains.

Here is why the hare lures are useful at least. I think link is set to start at the right place, if not go to 5:18
