Can you recruit Soldiers? Or stuff like Conan?

If you can im getting this game, Im a solo player and i keep hearing a thing about something called Friends? I think they're talking about NPC's or something, would love to have recruits in game.

Well, your base doesn't really get attacked. I have now finished every single quest and collected every resource and built a decent stone base with a wooden farm that I spent a considerable amount of time scaring hares, boars and wolves into. I still need to work on an Elk and Doe farm....but it's painstaking. Having said all that, the entire time I have not had a door on my base and nothing, absolutely nothing has come to attack me while I was in it. So not like you really need any guards....

Sidenote: If you do decide to make a farm, don't be an idiot like me and make sure you build separate pens for everything. I make the mistake of scaring a bunch of hares into the traps and then got wolves in there.... *RIP HARES*

By that logic then you don't really need a permanent base. Wanting to have recruited NPC's isn't about having guards for a lot of people, though that is one use. There are a lot of uses for recruited NPC's including farming, crafting, gathering, prestige or just for the sake of your place not looking devoid of human life.
