Dawn of Defiance

Game is automatically swapping monitors
Does anyone know how to get the game to stay on a specific monitor?

I adjust my resolution, change from windowed screen to full screen and after confirming the changes, the resolution changed back and the game jumps to the 1st monitor.

Right now it seems to be holding on windowed mode but as soon as I select full screen it all changes.
Thanks for any help.

I have that set up from other games I stream online but for some reason this game is kicking me back to the first monitor and it resets my resolution to 1920 x1017 each time even after applying my choices.

Not a huge deal, just thought I would throw it out there so the devs could be aware, some players are experiencing this.

Also I can play the game in windowed mode on monitor 2 on the 1920 x 1017 setting, but as soon as I select 1920 x 1080 it jumps to monitor 1 and changes the resolution again to 1920 x 1017. Kind of strange.

Ok thanks, good to know,
I'll check my drivers and such to see if I need updates. Also will check my game file integrity as well.
I also noticed my alignment was off a bit. to select icons, my mouse needed to be slightly under what I was trying to select, in order to click the item so something weird is happening for me when playing.

Small update to this post:
I updated my drivers , verified the steam integrity files and restarted the PC and everything seems to be staying in place now.

If anyone else is having issues with the game not remembering your settings or your monitor, please try to do what I did and hopefully all will be fixed.

Good Luck.

Ok, 8/20/2024 the issue has returned.

The game is set up to open on monitor two, this is what I use for game play.

I had everything working fine after updating drivers but now the issue has come back.

I can not keep the game on monitor two. after setting resolution, and other preferred settings, press F to confirm, the game immediately jumps back to monitor 1.

I tried this in windowed mode, borderless and fullscreen and I'm getting the same result.

I'm at a loss at this point.

Games typically will open on primary display most especially if set to Fullscreen mode. So don't use Fullscreen mode as you're trying to play on secondary display. Borderless is fine. There is an option to select monitor in video settings as you know. I can't confirm if it works as i only use 1 monitor atm.

Can also try the windows key and use arrow keys to move it to another monitor. There's other keys that also do this. Can also try downloading microsoft powertoys and trying fancyzones. Gives you quite a bit of control over window positions. But it looks daunting. May not work for games i've no idea. I'm tempted to download that now. I hate when windows can't remember where i opened something.

May not work but Steam does like to open games on primary display as well. You can try changing this behavior by using Steam in big picture mode. Goto settings and change the display to 2nd monitor. So all games should now launch on 2nd monitor. I've no idea if that will actually make them run on 2nd monitor when not in big picture mode. Figured it was worth a try. Having been thru all sorts of issues with multi monitors i did this just to be sure that wasn't the cause.

Can also try the old school way of doing it. goto "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DefiantImmortals\DefiantImmortals\Binaries\Win64\DefiantImmortalsSteam-Win64-Shipping.exe" and right click it and select properties. In the Location field add the below to the end of it and yes there is a space before -
-screen:1

Note you can use that same code minus the space in steam to do the same thing. In Steam select dawn of defiance manage/properties/launch options and add -screen:1

For some of this to work the monitors need to be in extended view mode.
