Mining Ambrosia Crystals now requires a Steel Pickaxe?

When did mining Ambrosia crystals change from using a simple pickaxe, to now needing a Steel Pickaxe (and of course to make a Steel pickaxe you need Amber as an ingredient)!? Was this changed with this last update?

I think so, you will need an iron axe for the amber if you need iron their is some not too far away from the portal. Give me a shout if you want to know where.

I can make an iron pickaxe, I'll go make one of the those, no worries, but when I hoover over the crystal it shows that it requires a steel one now. I'll follow up in a bit.

For amber its iron wood axe not pickaxe.

Nope, not Iron, did not work, it sez steel now, so I guess they are not kidding! This is at the cave, near the portal on the 1st island. What a drag as I WAS mining these just fine long before I even made the forge.

@KANE Nope, at the forge it takes 20 steel ingots, 3 leather strips, 5 Ancient wood, and 3 AMBER to make a forged steel pick now.

Yes i know what i was saying was to get amber you need an iron axe.

Hi Kane, sorry but it seems your missing the question in my original post, that being "Why does mining Ambrosia Crystals now require a STEEL Pickaxe"? I was not asking how to mine amber. But I DO thank you for trying to help ;-)

The question mark down beside amber made me think you did not know about it, sorry about that.
Yeah i was in the same boat has you i loaded the game up and now needed steel pickaxe for AB and iron wood axe for amber.

BECAUSE, getting end game resources with early game gear is LAME. There is no progression that way and you can have the end game gear right away. What's the point? Even with that... progression is still way too easy in this game.

OK, so this seems this was a change with the new update, good enough for me, thanks for sharing the input, I do understand the Dev's trying to balance the game.
