Unable to get 3 Star Animals ready to quit

only one temple left and the buck hunt quest need 3 star wolfs to get last temple Ive watched all videos I'm hitting clean Head shots all day long only getting 2 stars this has to be a bug. Right now I have 180 2 star wolf carcasses and 95 boar all head shots all 2 star Ive been loving this game and looks like I'm going to have to walk away its undo-able for some reason.

The 3 star kills are the most tiresome missions, I agree. I resorted to cheesing, eventually, but that didn't work on the wolves.

BTW, do headshots matter that much? I got many 3-star kills by hitting the animal anywhere.

I get 3 star with 1 shot kills, doesn't need to be headshot afaik.

Based upon my experience, I think it is only possible to get 3 star animals with a bow.
I recommend upgrading to a forged bow and doing headshots.
3 star rabbits are possible with a primitive bow, but easier with better bows, but placement is more important than power.
It is possible to get 3 star deer with headshots or by hitting them around the shoulder (heart) region, if the bow has sufficient power. It may be possible to get 3 star wolves and boars with heart shots, but I have not succeeded in doing so yet.
Headshots from the front of the head are more likely to get a 3 star than shots from the side, which means 3 Star wolves and boars are easy with a forged bow because they come directly to you. But you want to hit them at a distance, because once they get too close 3 stars become really unlikely.
It is possible to get 3 star boars with 2 shots, as long as both are in the head.
You may find the extra elevation from gliding keeps you out of range while giving you a better shot at them.

I am low level just left starting island but was getting 3 star wolfs/rabbits/fawn/doe/boar with simple bow and flint arrows .. only seam to get 3 star with one shot using bow.
bucks are very rare on starting island seen them more in dark forest

Those quests were a chore, but they are doable.
Use an upgraded bow (ancient wood) and copper arrows.
Boars are quite easy because they turn toward you, walk slowly first and then charge.
When they walk slowly you can easily headshot them for 3 star kills.
Boars are easy to find on a couple of spots: between the rocky area next to the crossroads trader (where the clay golems are), On the starter island on the far east is an ambrosia shrine (apollo shrine) where there are multiple boars. And at the night seal chest next to the "lake" on the starter island.
Bucks were by far the most difficult to hunt. Best spots i found was the far north of the main island. Along the stretch of coast starting from the "red wall" (area that is closed off) towards the hermes shrine there are multiple bucks walking in the woods.
Wolves have kinda the same trick as with boars: let them charge you and shoot them in the head.
Good spots for wolves are: just north of the night seal chest i mentioned for the boars, the southern part of the "Zeus mountains" next to the apollo shrine located there, the south-east/east part of the starter island coming from the portal.

You have to hit it with a bow, and it has to be one of those yellow-text crit hits that kills the animal in one shot. You might need to upgrade your bow/arrows. Make sure you've held down the bow button all the way too before releasing the arrow. Boars and wolves get to be the easiest (once you have a high enough damage bow/arrow), because they helpfully will come towards you, giving you a head shot.

For arrows Ive tried copper steal flint everything kills with one shot no matter where the arrow hits even wood arrows Ive got highest level bow and other weapons this does not make sense. My son has this game as well he was over the other night and wanted to show me how its done he was hitting head shots without being detected with no 3 stars he said every single shot we made would have been 3 stars on his pc at home and something is off

From what I've noticed, I usually just sneak and use the bow to kill them. Generally as long as they die in one hit from sneaking you almost always get 3 star hunts. Hope this helps!

i use flint and try for the head sometimes is not getting a 3 star with a body shot

Last ditch effort I decided to verify files and sure enough it downloaded and replaced some files. I jumped back into game to see if it helped and sure enough everything I shoot is 3 star so easy . Ive made several ambrosia potions does anyone know how many it takes to complete the temple offering of staying keyed for a day on this stuff?

5 Ambrosia potions. I recommend refreshing before your counter gets below 3 seconds.

Must be a head shot. A pristine hide cannot have a hole in it form the arrow. If the shot shows as red then you damaged the hide and it loses a star

5, i was drinking down to about 10 secs left, completed with my last potion still having a few mins left. its a full 24hrs so keep that in mind, i thought it was just all day but its full 24, also on the 3 star, just crouch shot even with wood arrows and any bow above the first one will take down everything but a full Buck, need higher bow.. still always just use wood arrows
