Infiltration mission hordes of enemies
I'm trying to get a campaign off the ground, and I've just been getting SWARMED every time I try an infiltration missions. With 1-2 skulls we're talking at least 40 enemies per level. Good ones too, not just weak chaff. Managers, security specialists, scouts and troopers, paramedics, etc etc. People with actual guns that are actually dangerous, with some weaklings tossed into the mix too.

I haven't seen nearly this many enemies on other mission types, and I'm starting to wonder if that mission type for whatever reason just has a huge multiplier to enemy count.

hi is it just the mission type, or is there anything else similar, like for the same location or faction?

Right now I think it's just the mission type... the two missions that I tried and failed at repeatedly were at different planetoids, against different enemies. Both were like 1 or 2 skulls and had ~1000 power concentration. (To be exact, the latter one is 1143 power concentration, 1 skull) I just wrapped up a 2 skull Robbery mission with comparable power concentration and there were definitely less than 1/2 as many enemies as the Infiltrations. And a lot of those enemies were the low-tier weaklings like workers with only some managers and security specialists as challenges.

Maybe other people have different experiences, but right now I'm going with "infiltration missions are WILDLY more difficult than their stats imply."
ah ok i'll try and keep a look to see how those are in my games going forward,
one thing that usually helps me, is to sneak around and try locking extra doors, to buy me time to clear out the current or next rooms, so that they dont surround me, maybe something like that can help a bit too in the meantime

edit: locking doors before engaging, or using a silent pistol :)

Can confirm it's the mission type for me as well. Infiltration missions are dropping higher tier gear even at the very beginning of the game. It would be different if it was just 1 maybe 3 enemies on a 4 - 5 skull but every single enemy carrying tier 2 - 3 weapons is really weird and ends only 1 of 2 ways. You steamroll them and you got rocketed up in power level at the very start which is cool the first time but boring the 12th, or you get 1 round burst fire killed because you have 100 - 120 HP and physically can't tank that damage in a single round because the enemy wasn't moving and didn't make a sound so you spent your moves opening the door and moving in.
Are you on the Beta branch? The hotfix from this morning said it adjusted the spawn budget so it sounds like the enemy count in the early game and low intensity missions should be eased up a bit.

Yeah, I'm on the Beta -- the Infiltration (and some other offensive mission types) are difficult but reasonable now, defensive missions are like, trivial.

I was on the beta branch as well. Haven't had time to play but hopefully it was indeed adjusted a little bit. Love a challenge, but don't like that big of a power spike for 1 mission XD

My only failure at a Infilration mission involve a Crane Operator. After missing a shot the Crane Operator blasted me with a Giant Screw you laser and blasted me again only for me to get pain stun and got blasted 2 more time to my death. I now have a fear of Crane Operators.
Giant Quasimorph that shake the ground with every step nah. Erika the Crane Operator run.

You made just one fatal mistake.

You got between Erika and her paycheck.
