How to beat the Chip Grind?
I'm at a point in the game where I have nearly endgame gear (all looted) and I'd like to craft and upgrade things, but chips are so rare that it's nearly impossible to get enough to do much upgrading, and that's assuming I can even find the chips for things I want to upgrade in the first place.

Am I missing something?

Fully upgrade the scanner on the ship. Fight factions which have the equipment you want chips for. If something you want is not faction specific, fight a faction that does not have its own chips, such as Unchained Belt or CivRes. Chip spawn rate is about 0.5 per floor on average. Bear in mind that if a faction is not high enough tech level to to produce chips, they may not drop in missions against them.

honestly, the early chips are the nicest and thats maybe Vibroblade(unless you go fist dmg) and upgrade the dmg to the max and maybe some simple armor set with low weight and max out vision, dodge and a tiny bit of hp in that order.

If we boost the item drop rate to 200% back when we customized our playthrough, does that mean that chip spawn rate becomes 1 per floor??

Early in my run not that many chips appeared though, hmm. Especially those green ones...
But recently I just got a storm ancm chip from a random container! (even though ancom is at tech 8). Some gold ones started spawning too.

Unknown. I have never bothered changing any setting other than auto repair (which honestly needs to be a ship module or a percentage setting, but I digress). Besides, the stated drop rate is observational, not absolute. That is to say, it doesn't mean that you are guaranteed to only have a chip every other floor. It's possible and frequent to have one or more chips on every floor of a mission, just like it is possible for none to spawn. The stated drop rate is merely the average recorded in the last 50 hours of game time.
Hmm the only possibile way to farm chips in this version of game imo is to eneable "extract whenever you want" at start then upgrade scaner to reveal 1/2 floors. Then you can find a mission with a faction that you want to farm those item chips or other chips [remember that you dont want to fullfill the mission but rather your here to scout first 2 levels for chips & extract & after extract it will decrese the favortability by a little with that faction],

You just look on map & go to elevator & look on second level & look there to.
Remember that chips can be found not only on ground but also in containers.

Edit: remember about Quasi if you dont want to find them[or farm them... damn I feel in love of the golden ones ;D when I started my last run & realised that they drop goldbars] use Mars/Deimos & Fuller? the "3 starting planets". Imo you can skip even looting other items if you want but at this point it is probably not important.

It's a cheasy way but whatever. Imo the devs should add some barter options for buying chips from factions. Like maybe on Earth or in the headquaters of those factions but only after geting to 100% with them there would open 3rd trading window for what they want to trade only to fully alied PMC. For higer tech chips the faction woudl nead to advence in technology to have acces to those to. Also prices should be adequate for advenced & faction chips.

Just my thought.

I got all the +1 item level upgrades for the ship's navigation and now multiple chips are dropping per mission! I guess I really gotta beeline that upgrade next time I start a fresh run.
