How does the management upgrade work?
Does it matter which faction I take control of? Are there faction I can't take control of? is there a specific faction I should take control of for the best stuff? not 100% sure on how it works

it says you can only take over a minor faction. there like 6 major factions so i assume those you cant take over. i am very close to get upgrade where i can take over a faction so i want to see how it works . i did saw last upgrade actually allow you to get allies on your missions
Hi,

you can only take the minor factions over, not the Hexxarchs. So think: Daydreams, Planetbridge, Coreward, Church etc, not AnCom, Realware or Dilthey.

As for who to take over, frankly i'm of the idea that it doesn't matter and i typically like to go for whatever's closest. It doesn't even matter if you've had meh relationships with them in the past, as soon as you capture them, you will have max relations and you will have a 100% discount on everything they produce. No such thing as "the best stuff", every minor faction has very good gear they can access, and interesting production lines.

How to do? First you have to reach the relevant upgrade module. Next you have to choose the faction you want to capture. next you click capture faction in their faction window. It will spawn a mission for you at their Headquarters. You then go there, kill the CEO and you now own the proxy. Unless it's been fixed in the 1.0 version, the headquarters mentioned in the faction information window is not always consistent where the mission actually spawns.

Imo don't stress it if its your first go at it. Pick a faction for what you'd like to have access to later, for whom you would rather not have to fight again, or just simply because it's there or whatever. There are no wrong choices and i have yet to be disappointed by a proxy. I would just recommend against proxying a faction that you have to travel hundreds of days for if you don't yet have the bramfaturic engine unlocked. Typically i would advise to rush the navigation tech tree and unlock the proxy as soon as you can. It is probably the biggest acceleration modifier of a run for various reasons.

I see, I just started recently n' just now got the management upgrade really early on. Everyone is at around tech levels 2-3 and the highest power corporation is only at 4.3k

Still unsure of for who to pick for a proxy though. First time playing and I don't know what the later weapons do or what their stats are, so I'm kinda just going off visuals rn. Thinking of either Sunlight Coven or Grasshopper Tek. Sunlight coven looks like they have some pretty good energy guns and armor, and grasshopper tek has some pretty cool looking armor and I like the cowboy vibe

How much does location matter for a proxy faction? I'm assuming what matters most is their headquarters and I don't know what the bramfaturic engine is/does or have it unlocked yet
Flying pretty far to get to a corp HQ to do the mission can be problematic due to the time involved. So usually like Kaia suggested pick who you want or someone close.

I love Daydream Chems for the medical kits you get, chips, and some later armors. Also for the cloning stations as those are hard to come by for upgrades.

Ah yeah that makes sense. Leaning pretty hard towards sunlight coven though cause their weapons look really nice, plus that means I wouldn't have to fight them anymore in the future. That and their HQ is at mars which is relatively central to everything so it won't take long to get there, and I wouldn't have to deal with quasimorphosis while doing missions there

grasshopper tek is also another one I'm looking at, since I use 7.97 and have a gun that needs 12.7 that looks pretty good. Though, they're not too bad to fight so far, and their HQ basically at the edge of the system so it'd be a huge time waste to go there

Daydream chem also looks pretty nice. Not sure about their armor, but I know that I've had a good few deaths to their weapons. That and all the medkits seem really useful
The two Daydream armors actually are among the best medium weight armor you can hope for with dodge centric builds, which to me are the best builds anyway.

Like i said, all corpos have something great to offer, don't obsess about the choice, you will unlock plenty of chips from other factions as well so you'll be able to craft them yourself anyway.

There really is no wrong choice (other than flying 200days without the bramfaturic engine)

Noted, think imma go with Sunlight Coven then. They're at mars so their missions will be easy without the threat of a baron, I won't have to fight their units anymore which is nice, and their faction lore sounds cool

Question though, for one of the upgrades after management. What does the flexible diplomacy upgrade do? It says alliance change and change faction type but idk what that means

I beleive theres a mod on the workshop that lets you view the stats of late tech items

Flexible diplomacy allows you to change the faction type from say Corporate to PIrate to Quasi. So the factories/stations produce different stuff. I never use it as I prefer the standard factory builds.

Example, when Tezctlan captures a factory, you notice it stops producing regular stuff and starts making quasi stuff.
Also you might want to check, I think Sunlight HQ is on Saturn, just FYI. Unless, again they changed that for 1.0.

My game says their HQ is on Deimos in the mars system, so I'm guessing it was changed unless it's random every run
