Please improve ship inventory management
Managing ship inventory is quite a chore. I think basic filters like weapons, consumables, components etc. would grately help when gearing up your agents. Right now I need to search my entire cargo just to see my melee weapons.

hi one thing that might help a bit is to use the Storage Tabs for different items.

for example i usually do this:

Tab 1 = food and meds +
Tab 2 = Quasi items and grenades + ship upgrade stuff
Tab 3 = Ammo and Craftables
Tab 4 = Melee and Armour
Tab 5 = GUns :)

I have a really similar system to pgames-food above. Works like a charm.

It works for a while, I use a mod that does that automatically, and if you play long enough the inventories piles up anyway becoming scrolling hell all the same, just at a later time.
This game desperately needs a larger cargo window and a basic search function in cargo screen.

ah ok, i still have to reach the late game, as it takes me time to play a mission, and then when new versions come out am always (trying to reach late game) for each version :)

My question is why are you hanging on to so much stuff? Only keep what you'll actually use and leave crafting/bartering in their own tab, there's not much reason to scroll through them often. I don't keep weapons, ammo, armor, health items, or food unless I'm actually going to use it. I disassemble or trade away a lot in the late game.

There is not a good way of getting rid of items currently and not many things to actually spend them on. Trading is bad, I used to trade away way more items before current system, now I just stop once I have ship upgrades and the credit system covers most of my needs anyway. Like sure I could trade away "just because" but that is a meta solution that completely ignores a problem imo.
Also, once you unlock the maxed out dismantler/scavengers you will be swimming in items anyway.

I found it best to sort everything like this:

Tab 1 = All weapons/ammunition/grenades
Tab 2 = All armor/backpacks/chest rigs
Tab 3 = Medical items
Tab 4 = All consumables/cigarettes/alcohol/food/water
Tab 5 = Crafting ingredients
Tab 6 = Luxury/trade items
Tab 7 = Damaged/spare equipment ready to be taken on missions

There's also a mod that sorts items into specified tabs if you'd rather it be done automatically.

I try to hold Tab 1 empty or with few (3-4 rows at most) pieces of gear i often swap in and out.
All loot falls into tab 1 and i dont want to scroll through it to filter my earning.
Tab 2 - guns and ammo
Tab 3 - melee weapons
Tab 4 - armor and backpacks
Tab 5 - turrets, grenades and meds
Tab 6 - food, q-reduction, skill-ups and consumable with no direct damage
Tab 7 - crafting pieces, boxes of X, duplicate chips and other junk

You can CTRL Click to make an item switch between yourself and the container. You can also Shift and drag an item to a tab, This will take all of the same items and move them into that tab.
Im using this variant:
1 - all crafting items
2 - ranged weapon
3 - consumables (granades, med, food, ect.)
4 - armor, backpacks
5 - ammo
6 - quasi items
7 - melee

Would like to see this in game.

In the meantime, here is the mod that can distribute items to tabs. Rules can be customized.

The image arrows for that was just random. The default rules are in the mod’s description.

Your mod is great, I think it should be a part of the game by default, or at least some filter system.

Thanks! I'm not sure how the devs could add it to the game without spending a bit of time making a specific UI for it. As a modder, I can get away with making the users edit a JSON file if they want to change it.
