What's the point of Elevators?

Outside story maps, like the tutorial, or Oddjob, most elevators take you only to the next floor and back, and if you need to go back to ground floor, cos you need to stash stuff in the shuttle (at least in my case, cos I need this stuff, to finish upgrading the ship), there's a lot of backtracking between each elevator, couldn't we just have a single elevator that can go to each floor?

Maybe make it so you need to get a keycard or some other form of access to proceed to the next floor.

I think it adds more depth to the game. could you imagine a floor 4 mission only having one elevator? all missions would technically be 2 floor missions. since everyone can go down to the designated floor.

There are technically ways around it, you could design it so the objectives are spread out across the floors for example 3 satellites on 3 different floors or you could make connected elevators a rare rng feature, or the connected elevator is a separate second elevator with way more security and traps.
Not saying that the feature is needed but it could definitely be worked in.

hi i thought of something a bit like that in the past (but i was coming at it from a different angle, with me basically being a bit of a hearder in real life, and wanting to find a way to collect more loot - before someone made some cool mods that allow for more loot to be picked up
