Just starting out, +15 or +20 rep with the faction, I give them goods, but there's no apparent way to get things in return? I couldn't click anything that appeared work at all. What am I missing?
Has anyone posted a howto video or anything? Game really needs a bit more tutorial.
Game is probably 200% more playable now then when it first entered EA. Going in the right direction at least
I agree with the poster before me, getting actual faction items is still a pain outside of the player deliberately powering up that faction and then doing missions against the faction to get away with their equipment, which is a highly illogical way of doing things.
On the other hand it has made tech progress way too easy, I can almost max upgrade in a year barring extremely bad mission rng.
Currently when faction is in light green instead of usuall dark green they'll trade for stations products. If you turn on Quick trades in Settings you can check what station is actually selling without going through landing and walking motions when you are on its orbit. Stuff actually sold is close to what stations production says but some listed items may be missing and some unexpected sold.
Where as previous iterations of the game provided a more predictable, yet still very rng based trade, at least you knew if you were trading with Realware, you'd have a chance for Realware gear and so on for the other factions. Currently, it needs a serious rework.
To some degree, i kind of preferred the trading in .7, as weird as it sounds.
Either way i think it should be reworked from the ground up. I feel like it will always be a hot mess the way the game galaxy is organized, should it remain a bartering system.
This due to how commodities and stock markets work and are completely incompatible with the lack of currency.
I feel a better system would include 1 or more currencies, but streamline the trading, and eliminate the geographic aspect of it, or simplify it to have it delivered by way of shuttle from day 1, taking more or less time depending from where it is in the galaxy.
Tl:DR : Bartering and the absence of currency does not mix well with Stock market commodities and globalized markets.
Was that the one where you gave items and got totally random stuff like 1000 nails?
Yeah I found that to be funny/entertaining at least. Wish it was still an optional setting.
And yeah the idea of PMC being illegal and therefore we barter does not make sense outside of the Hexarchy factions and those closely tied to it, like minor factions already beef with Hexarchy but not on this sure, but then what about pirates and CivRes? Why are the lawless elements obeying the no PMC rules? This could be actually used to make Pirates and CivRes an unique faction to interact with as they could have their own trading rules.
On a side note I would love to be actually able to buy stocks in companies in game and maybe even property as a further money sink and goal beyond ship upgrading.
"Oh thanks for the trade goods, enjoy your 3 inventories worth of chocolate bars." Lol
Least with the current system i can see the range of items im likely to get. All they really need to do is add the faction tech items to the various stations as stuff is researched. Put all the late game stuff at the edge of the belt too. Shouldnt be able to buy the best stuff on mars lol
I also liked the feel that it used to basically be "here is whatever random nonsense we have laying around, take it."
At least that is my perspective and I know that I'm entirely in the minority on this.
I think the new system can actually be better if it gets polished and the ship essential stuff gets nerfed or becomes more scarce.
I think the player should just get it's own faction and put up trade offers.
Or even better, how about that friendly/neutral factions offer trades to the player via a notification and it should be based on what the player has in inventory or give a 2-3 week period to get them.
For example: X factions gives you 2 basic chips, some guns, some armor in exchange for crafting materials, fuel and ammo
