Problems with the barter system/ship upgrades system and RNG loot
To put it simply, I think there's one too many layers of RNG to determine what you get from corpos you work for, what you get when you turn in stuff they want and in particular getting/finding things that upgrade your ship and give you meta progression in this roguelike.

Unless you find something in a mission you need directly (and manage to extract with it of course), you have to engage with the barter system, which only allows you to turn in specific things at specific places. But what you get from the turn ins is subject to RNG. Meaning you can risk your life (cheap as it is in this game), expend your resources that are often harder to replace than not (medical supplies in particular) and in exchange get...ten sodas.

I don't mind the barter from the lore perspective - we're PMC outlaw types, we can't use legal tender I get it. But we should at least be able to determine what we get from barter, think something ala Fallout where you can directly trade items for their value (give or take your barter skill of course) but just without a 'money substitute' to keep things different enough.

Also allow us to trade in more things in more places! It would help in combination with being able to specifically get what you want and need even if you're willing to do so at a loss (because the corpo you're trading with values your goods less because its not in their demands)

hi more ways to trade and/or a weighted rng is always cool, but btw if you still have those 10 sodas, they are still cool too :)
- counts as food
- extinguishes fire
- gives you metal cans for making other/larger food items
- could eventually become 10 grenades :)

I mean, fair. The sodas aren't entirely useless, but it's kind of underwhelming when you're trying to get ship upgrades

The system is not rng as people claim, there is a lot of logic to it.
It could use more refinement but jt works.
If you do a mission in a mining station, you have a better chance to get industrial or mining stuff. If you do it against the mining corporation, its even more chances.
And each faction has specialists but also workers and scientists that can carry specific items.
The more floors, the better the loot.
It actually pays off to fight stronger factions like the top 3 corporations because they have progression items on them.
And there are many ship upgrades to help with loot like the escape shuttle the shuttle inventory, scavengers.
The scanner stuff actualy increases loot and lowers the number of enemies(its less loot:( ).
Sabotage missions are great for ship loot, the yellow boxes near the objectives give good stuff.
Being able to generate missions is also op, i rarely left mars

ah that makes sense, yeah the new (slightly hidden) small lootable cargo containers in sabotage cargo rooms are really good, especially when there are usually 3 of them :)

btw some people enjoy mars, but i prefer snickers :lunar2019piginablanket:
