How do you deal with Ancom's Lightining gun?
I am at the end of my rope.

Whenever I go against Ancon, sooner or later I will be forced ot face of of their Inquisitors who is equipped with a Lightning gun.

I have Maximillain with 160 HP, or Percy with 210 HP, clad in full Carnage Pattern for the Beam resist and all. Always on Walk mode to avoid stun locks. Very resilient to damage

But whenever those guys pop up, ONE of them shoot ONCE. Either they enter the room with one action point to spare, or my 2 autofire volleys can´t kill them in the same turn.

And then not only my merc takes 60-70 damage per shot/volley (I think it is a volley, but cant be sure), but they also get electrocute paralisys FOREVER. The enemies just keep shooting their lightning until my guy dies

How can I deal with them?

It would be shock not beam damage resistance but I never met them bcs I bully all corpos so ancom never became strong so other than pointing out resistances I have no better advice.

When you have 0 shock resistance that is going to happen. you need to have the correct resistance, shadow armor has some off the top of my head.

What causes the shocked status tho?, do we understand the effect? I never was hit with it bcs ancom never reached the required tech level for them to use them against me, they just got enigma supremes but nothing better. Is there something like with fire where you get stacks and after you reach X stacks you get stunned?, I only experienced this effect thro shooting enemies in Community and Anarchy with an ancom zappy gun but they didn't always get shocked or they stayed shocked for many many turns.

I can´t really check, because once they fire, my Guy gets electrocute stun and the turns pass automatically.

But I can say this: whenever they fire, volley or single shot, is enough to paralyze my guy in that ONE shot/volley.

If the the lightning has a debuff that needs to stack to a certain limit before immobilizing you, then that ONE shot/volley it enough to fill the stack limit.

That's sounds like smashing the monitor and walking away situation. Carnage pattern lacks shock and poison, perhaps switch it for Shadow Pattern?, I know it sucks considering it only protects form elements but perhaps it's worth a try?, you could throw a test clone at ancom and just maybe, you will survive that shock gun to see the debuffs if there are any. Some other armors also have some lesser shock resistances while providing physical ones but that might put you in danger of getting stunlocked. Do you have Dawn Pattern?, I sometimes see them on elimination targets or some heavy units sent during defense etc and stocked few pieces, that has elemental resistances while providing pierce protection, mixing it with Frame could give you a scuffed Carnage Pattern armor set but with shock resistances, perhaps enough to resist this stunlock or at the very least drain them of ammo so maybe you come out of the stunlock before they reload.

Ancom's shock rifle deals 20-34 damage with 200% crit, shock wounds increase incoming damage
Armors with proper shock res are Mystery Pattern(ancom, same armor worn by inqisitors), Prophet pattern(sunlight coven) and Seraphim pattern(church of revelation)
Also, inqisitors are extremly vulnerable to piercing damage

Looks simillar to pain threshold in a way that tiny scratches through armor cause incredible agony and 4-5 taps is enough to make you stunned for an action except shock stun seems to last longer and takes only 2-3 dents to happen.
When on that new story mission morphs or posessed humans with 20 resist to all from morphosis level get shot with 1 or 2 volleys from shock pistol it reliably gets stunned even when not very damaged.

You dont, you just die😖 and i am not even joking.
Its a balancing problem because the guns are not even mentioned as dealing shock damage.
You need to mix your amor to have 60 shock when fighting ancom.
The only gun that actually does anything against them is the endgame ancom sniper rifle with its burst mode.
But there have been cases where is die across the screen from a sniper and shockgun.
In my game ancom has 26 locations so i fight ancom 90% of time.
This is the reason why my review for the game is still negative.
Every big patch there are huge problems with balance.
They should remove the prologue or make it so you die at the end.
The people armor set is crazy for early game.
By the time i died to spider poison i had 50% of ship upgrades and a buffalo.
Now with ancom having so many endgame guns, 3 or 4. They murder my percival the magnificent every time they ambush me from behind a corner so i mostly destroy walls now.
But its crazy how a broken gun turned my game into a nightmare to play.
If they make difficulty be 10 sliders or 4 number difficulty like recive/do 10/20/30% damage the game will be trash.
I hope they make the difficylty like battle brothers where max difficulty means you face stronger enemies faster but also get much better rewards

What i noticed about lightning, it may cause you to skip a turn, it might be to pain but it comes down to them being able to shot 2 times.
The shock wounds decrease accuracy so you cant kill them if they shoot first.
Pain becomes a big problem and their guns have good range.
You just destroy the corners if possible but that might uncover more enemies.
The irony is that every faction has at least 2 guns that will kill the player as fast as this but we will never see them because those factions are drowned by top 3 corpos and tetzclan.
Can you imagine a burst buzzsaw launcher? A shock minigun? Some crazy shotguns

Definitely the nastiest weapon in the game. The first time I faced high tech level AnCom I died to the first door I opened because a soldier with one of these bum rushed me and fried my brains.

Doesn't help they have insane range and will fire from 11 tiles away.

Upgrade a regular armor and give it shock resistance so you can manufacture something to take the edge off.

It is indeed pointless since i died with 60 shock armor. Having more hp after geting about 40 shock armor seems to help more but the shock wounds drain your accuracy so the only gun that can fight back agaist shock is a shotgun, knockback helps

I started using the Supremacy today. The way it infinitely stun locks enemies is pretty funny. They are just helpless. The gun is broken for us too tbh. If I could get the chip from AnCom to be able to up the damage a bit it'd be amazing.

Running it against Tez is great because you have unlimited ammo and can just spam away.

I don't care if i'm necroing this thread, it's an important one. I got back into the game recently and encountered yet another weapon (AEV Supremacy) that absolutely needs nerfing.

Wearing 4/4 slots of the inquisitor shock resist armor (Mystery pattern), and i'm still getting stun locked every time I slip up (very rarely) and get hit with it. What's the point of wearing the armor then???

This is why I'm still save scumming with the game files to avoid wasting my time.
How are these people so incredibly bad at weapon balancing?

Carnage pattern is worthless. It gives 0 resistances to shock. Run shadow pattern, mystery pattern or Dithley armor. Or dont get hit. AnCom late game is a joke, because they use pierce guns, but have 0 pierce resist, so you can use their own stuff against them to one shot everyone. It looks fancy, but it's not a mono-type armor(never wear the whole set).
I usually wear half of a set of mystery or shadow and a half of something else to balance my resistances. Their armor is a phenomenal splash armor though (1-2 pieces worn).
