So close to being a great game, but direction turned into borderline garbage
I love the concept, the artstyle, the maps, the enemies, the gameplay, but it is all pointless where certain mechanics ruin both the fun, the skill and the reasonable amount of RNG a game like this should have. This is from the perspective a person who is NOT a diehard fan, but a person who wants the game to be good and genuinly want to enjoy the game.

RNG and mission difficulty is the main problem, it is not a skill issue, it is not a lack of thinking, sometimes the game is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I don't mean in a way that makes sense either. Sure punish me it im not prepared, but why am I punished when I do everything right. I can't clear the Venus story mission no matter what I do the RNG gatekeeps it. I brought 5 stacks of ammo, brought 10 packs of cigarettes and good amount of healing. I clear 3 floors and have full carnage armor with 60 frost resist just to take 150 damage from 1 shot from a 30 damage frost weapon by a random quasimorph enemy. I burned through 10 packs of cigarettes, multiple liquor flasks i found and a quasimorph heart (-600 quasimorph thing) and still I had 1000 quasimorph level on the last level.
It is to the point where I could not physically bring more items to stop quasimorphs to spawn without running the mission without ammo or without meds or food.

Why does this mechanic even exist if it makes the game unplayable. Sure it wouldnt make the game unplayable if it was not for these dogsh1t 1 shots out of nowhere that shouldnt possibly happen. Why does the same quasimorph tank 30 shotgun shells with 20 cut resist 1 shot me with 60 cold resist. Like I dont know if it is bugged or whatever because not 1 other enemy could do more than 20 damage for the entire game before that.
The game desperatly needs more planets without quasimorphs because of how awfull the quest system combined with travel time is.

This is what makes the game tilting and unfun, but what makes the game just straight up boring is the inventory, weight and loot pool. Why have I gone 60+ matches without finding 1 weapon crate to upgrade my ship, why have I gone 60+ matches without finding more than 1 armor crate to level my ship, why have I gone 60+ matches without unlocking anything in my ship because I have genuinly not found a single 1 of these items including the missions where I have died. There needs to be a way to get these items consistantly like as a mission reward or a shop system with the factions after building up credit with them.
Even if I found these items I would not have space in my inventory because of how bad the inventory system is and consumable spammed the game is, I need 4 medical items just to cover basic healing, I need 1 quasimorph item slot, I need 3 ammo slots and I need 1 slot for food. Oh you have a 12 slot backpack and no crating recipes to make a better one guess ♥♥♥♥ you, you are not getting loot from this mission. You want to progress? Well you need the loot that you can't pick up to do that. Pistols and knives should only take 1 slot in inventory and all barter items and upgrade items should also just take 1 slot. Yes I know they added a loot extract system, but it doesn't matter if I cant get the unlock in the first place because I have never seen the item needed to make it in my 60+ missions in recent save. I found it on another save but the loot extract just spawns somewhere random without a map marker and I could not find it anyways. Just make the ship have 5 slots or whatever that will be safe.

You completed a 5 skull mission that used up all your good ammo, -quasimorphs and meds? ♥♥♥♥ you here is 2 pistols and 9mm ammo as a reward. The quests feel trash too, why would I ever side with the bad factions when it will give me impossible missions agaist the good factions and bad rewards for completing the missions. It feels even worse when paired up with the travel system, you want to do a mission on mars? Well ♥♥♥♥ you bcs all the mission are gone when you get there and now you have to wait IN A SINGLEPLAYER game.

I genuinly dont get this why not have 1 more row of inventory, why not have resistances actually do something against quasimorphs, why make it so I nedd 1000 consumables to the extent where I can't loot just to make the RNG fest slightly less of an RNG fest.

Why am I locked into a project after choosing 1 in my ship why can't I upgrade 1 character and then switch if I get another one that I like better. It is just boring, unfun and restricting and ruins the point of adding it in the first place. It is not my fault that I lock in a bad armor to lvl it bcs I never get good armor blueprints just for the next mission to give me a good one but it is no longer good bcs I cant upgrade it. Yes absolutely have rare upgrades for the ships, but why does the first upgrade have to be the incredibly rare one, I can do the next 5 upgrades for weapon research, but I can't after 60+ missions even unlock it so it does not matter.

You sounds mad lol.
You didnt took Cold damage, you took POISON damage. Venus weapons changed their damage property.

I just spent a hour on that Venus heresy.
Only to die by a stupid quasi dog that turned a corned because i was surprize surprize Burning.
I explored almost the entire map to find the stupid shuttle and in the end when i died one room away from the shuttle i came back naked and typed
"Finish_mission" and voi-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-la.

GOD forbid there exists such a novel thing as "Checkpoints" whoever will think of such a thing!

But game hard this good! Gitt gud huuuu!
May you be locked in a room with that centaur thing that was injected with concentrated viagra.

This i despise them tanking everything.
If you came to the real world you will scream when i shoot a shotgun into your face.

i really dont understand since the update the game is so simple and easy. like it doesn take much skill. pick ur mission carefully at the start till ur get the upgrade that give us space on the shuttle. Get the chip for tunnel rats/jeffhammer/smuggler set. Upgrade that set and the shotgun. Never die, kill everything no problem be stocked with loot. Like its not a skill issue, there's no skilled required. the game is beyond simple now.

I have never gotten the jeffhammer blueprint no matter how many missions i play, like I said I have also not gotten 1 weapon crate so I cant upgrade weapons either. In this playthrough I have not gotten tunnel rats either but the ace one is pretty good so I don't mind.
Upgrade system sucks anyways, you can make 1 weapon absolutely broken while the rest are garbage is not a good mechanic, I never said the game was too hard or not simple I say the mechanics suck.

Like ur saying the game is easy because of a cheese build. A game feeling like sh1t without a cheese build is a poorly balanced game.

Have you dismembered a poor guy with a single pistol shot? Similar thing happened to you. Carnage pattern offer no protection against poison.
Also I doubt it was a single shot, it was a multiple shot from Serpent's Mouth or Q-Shotgun. The wounds given by poison damage increase the next incoming damage, so you could die from a burst+crit even with some protection.

Mix some dodge and armor against teztclan and you will be fine.

About quasimorphs resisting multiple shots. The recent update is giving some defense to demons scaling with q-meter, and that was quite extreme, so I agree with you. Right now it require a high damage weapon to deal significative damage against them and there is not too much of such weapons early game unless melee.
Before the update the quasimorph was a joke that could be disintegrated with a shotgun but that is not true anymore.

I am playing without Armory/Weaponry and I can still find success against them, so you can too.

No I cant, I brought 10 packs of cigarettes and still it reaches 1000 because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mission has way too many levels, I probably reduced quasi lvl with 2000 and still it easily reached 1000. I cant physically carry enough ammo to kill these quasimorphs, I brought 3 stacks of piercing 2 stacks of shotgun (cut) and 1 stack of energy and still im not close to clearing the stage without running out of ammo, the problem is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ inventory system on top of this. I killed 15 quasimorphs before that one and all of them tanked a bullsh1t amount, I also killed maybe 80 humans with guns and used up all the ammo on every single one just barely having ammo to kill the next one. Before they were not really a joke either just poorly designed in how they come at you, now it is genuinly impossible, im being pushed by 2 ranged ones and 2 of the dog ones and none of them are killable the only reason I thought I had a chance was bcs they attacked each other but then one randomly turned around and shoots me behind cover from about 7 or 8 range and 1 shots me.

It is really not about even how broken it is more about how unfun and boring the new mechanics are. Also it is specifically the Venus story mission im talking about why the ♥♥♥♥ is it a starting mission then you face a 4 step level with only ladders to get you up and enemies camp specifically on the ladders killing you unless you have a nade that explodes on impact. I went through the durability of my shotgun 4 times...

Igvas ammo now deals poison damage.
Venus quasimorphs are weak to pierce damage.

The only problem i have with the game is that the devs ruin the balance by introducing obvious things that should be nerfed.
The full release of the game will be close to perfect so its just a creative proces at this point.
I am sure they will introduce stronger enemies and more mechanics to smooth out the experience.
This version is more mid tier player friendly.
All experienced players will say the game is too easy now.
The experienced players mostly complain about loot rng.
But the perspective of the game is to have a lot more locations.
The game is balanced around generating missions for/against certain factions

Well that what I said the game is incredibly easy if you get to research a good gun, but bcs of the loot rng I have not found 1 good gun blueprint or even a single weapon case to unlock weapon research in 60+ completed missions, I said a lot will be fixed if the inventory was either bigger or atleast some items were only 1 slot like knives, pistols and all lootables. There should be a consistent way to get these items like a shop system maybe like tarkov where you get higher tier if you get more reputation.

the game is very confused about its genre rn
it started and is advertised mostly as a roguelike
currently it plays likea looter shooter
the RNG grindheavy ressources and upgrade parts remind me more of an mmo
the bartering and travel /mission timer parts are genuinely just unnecessary annoyances the way they currently are to me
i kinda feel sad about the people who got the game in the first place as an roguelike
because ive seen someone in this discord right before the 0.7 patch dropped concerned about the games direction
worried that it would turn out like another game that started promising had a great direction for a while then suddenly became a totally differrent game and he felt scammed
and i can clearly see where his worries originate

the idea of "clones are replaceable just run into a mission blind to find out what will kill you and what you need to bring to do this mission"
is just a cheap excuse at this point
for how few reliable information this game offers
and reminds me of fallout 76
"there are no NPCs, everything is made by real players"

welp im not a big roguelike fan myself and dont care too much about the games direction tbh
it is currently easy as ♥♥♥♥

I agree to an extent the game is too easy with unlockables and too RNG heavy without them unlocked. I can level a shotgun to 80 damage and 1 shot everything or I can fight a basic enemy and it will tank 30 shots from my stock gun.

I played Spelunky for 330 hours, I beat it at most 13-15 (maybe 18 if I high ball it)times in that time. I don't think you understand the appeal of the genre.

Solving the game isn't the fun part, its the journey. When I finally mastered Spelunky, (to the extent that I wanted, eggplant run wasn't a fun idea for me) and did what I wanted to do. It was over. The game hasn't been opened since.
