How to get quick access to larger backpacks
1. Start new game.
2. Set game speed to 100x
3. Go outside, go to work, just let the game run for a good long while
4. Come back when faction tech/power has increased significantly (burning 60 days travelling from the inner solar system (Mercury) to the outer solar system (Mars) also helps dramatically speed up the passage of in game time
5. See larger backpacks and more interesting gear now be available from faction stocks/item drops

Enjoy higher quality loot!

6. Realise that a RealWare guard in full Carnage Pattern armor has 60 resistance in blunt/pierce/cut/cold/fire and you do not have the beam gun or poison sprayer to deal with the challenge.

7. "Enjoy" the deathloop from having no gear to deal with any threats.

The new difficulty system really buffers against that. Farm up some high quality gear on a mission with only 2 difficulty before diving into a max difficulty 5 level deep battle.

2nd completed mission of a fresh playthrough, already got a Buffalo.

It does ramp up the challenge, but this game is all about stealing loot from the dead bodies of the enemies you meet, you very quickly rise to meet that challenge thanks to their loot progression now accelerating your loot progression.

Brand new save file, less than 1 hour /played, and you too can rock a max size backpack and bring in the big hauls right from the get go.

That green heavy/legend armor I'm wearing giving some nice 50 resist ratings... stole that from I think it was a 'Stormtrooper'.

pretty neat :)

guess what - i just did a random average check, and it looks like even though i only have armour in the 30's, we both had exactly the same average defence values by some coincidence :lunar2019grinningpig: of 21.25
