This game needs mods to survive
Playerbase is already bleeding right now because game has little to offer and feels so restrictive.

I don´t understand devs that want to wait for 2-3 years of slow updates until they might go for modding support. By that time the playerbase will be completely gone and no one will be interested in creating great mods for a dead game. Happened so often, while projects that started with mod support early usually see success. Start to learn from the past instead of doing the same mistakes over and over again.

Modding support will likely come after release, they want to make sure game is stable enough with groundwork and code and all, because every update will likely break all mods

From the latest devlog:
Modifications and Steam Workshop
Work is underway to update the game code—we want to start introducing support for user modifications. For now, we want to introduce it as beta support, so there may be issues. But we will continue to refine this feature up to the game’s release.

The updates are pretty far from slow and ones coming later this month probably, I also want mod tools ofc but with a game in EA it can be harder since if major changes are made the tools and projects might not be useable so it’s better to wait a bit on them

There are also games which came out with mod support but the playerbase didn't stick around to use it. It helps, but it's not a bulletproof solution for a game's longevity. I think a good vision and a healthy workload on the side of the devs are just as important

THIS

Just look at Bannerlord. They allowed workshop. early. everyone posted their awesome mods. Than they kept doing patches that broke every mod. DId this so much that the playerbase of that game LEFT / died compared to the old numbers due to every awesome mod breaking for some stupid "feature" that took devs 6 months when a modder already had an entire additional part of the game added.

updates are fast, i made a balance suggestion post and it seems like they were already working on the issues because all 3 concerns of mine (spiders, tzectlan crossbows, and melee enemies) were all significantly changed for the better within a cuple months
