Corpse piles create a potential softlock.
On maps with indestructable walls, you can easily end up blocking yourself in permanetly since you cannot destroy the piles. Not even very difficult to achieve thanks to one-width hallways.

I understand it's a neat mechanic, but let us render the pile down, possibly breaking many of the components inside (similar to shooting at/over destructible items).

You can destroy piles by firing at them with guns, it just takes a lot. If you are melee though you are screwed.

You can throw your melee weapons at it and it will destroy it.

Really? Whenever I shot at the pile it didn't do the 'damage flash' similar to every other prop/object, making me think it's impassable.

Yeah the lack of feedback had me confused at first too, but they can be destroyed. It can still be very annoying for it to happen and potentially run ending on high quasimorphosis levels.

How could it end a run lol

Softlocking into a room that has indestructable walls. This post was made assuming the pile is indestructable due to very poor damage feedback.

so it cant end a run because it can be destroyed

I've noticed that they still hella mess with NPC movement even after being destroyed.
