When is the Combat Log being added?
I have seen devs claim several times that a combat log is "planned" but the roadmap in the devlog a couple of weeks ago shows the plans for the whole of 2024 and has no mention of a combat log being added.
So if it is genuinely going to be added, when?... 2025?... 2026?...

Timestamp 1> Player does something dumb (include me in this log)
Timestamp 2> Player Dead

Most scenarios fall in above scope... I think at most it would be fuel for players to scream and cry that X weapon or thing did too much damage. I could see it being useful to review what the heck happened. If anything when we die instead of just laughing at us and putting a big "red death" UI panel up.... maybe a little extra info there. But I can see that info being used for a lot of whining posts about crossbows, snake guns yaddy yaddy... prob not much incentive for dev on that front.

Of all the rogue-likes I have played, and I have played quite a lot. This is the only one that does not have a combat log. Personally I consider it to be a staple of this genre and the likes of Battle Brothers etc. Analysing what happened, and learning what I did wrong is where most of the fun is for me (yes, yes I am a nerd I know).

EDIT - Actually Jupiter Hell does not have a combat log and I like that game. So I am full of sh*t there :D In my defence though, I have never been one-shot in Jupiter Hell so...

I don't mind at all getting one-shot, provided I can find out why I was. If I am going through a level fighting enemies which only do 10 or so damage, but then suddenly I get killed from full health by a visually identical enemy, with absolutely no idea what happened, I have no interest in trying again. What is the point? I have no way of knowing what I did wrong. I have no way of learning from my mistakes and it is only a matter of time before the exact same thing happens again. I lose all interest at that point.

I did not mind waiting, this game seemed like it was going to be great once it had a combat log. The devs have said they are planning to add one. So I just put this on the back burner for now. However I am disappointed to see that it is apparently not going to be added for at least a year.

If the devs have changed their mind and are no longer going to add a combat log. Then I would like to know, so I can mourn, forget about this game and move on with my life XD.

Really? I can think of around two dozen roguelikes and even more "rogue lites" that lack any sort of logging off the top of my head. Granted, it's a 35-year old (though relatively small) genre, but the titles that fall under it more frequently lack logging than have it.

Regardless, logging might be beneficial here, if only to make theorycrafting easier. Nevermind that the class/merc/equipment meta is 100% solved until they get reworked and/or customization gets introduced. Newbies can benefit, even then.
