Does anyone else think poison is too strong against players?
I may just be bad, but from what I've seen, being poisoned is basically instant death. It takes forever to clear from your system so you can't let it run its course at all, it does enormous amounts of damage, and the only items that clear it [antivenom and sorbent] are kinda rare from my time in the game.
I get that everything in this game is super deadly, but poison is especially so because there are some situations where you simply can't really do anything about it [spiders poisoning the tile they die on, toxic barrels, etc.] and so as little as an enemy dying in the wrong place can spell instant death.
Then again, maybe I'm missing something or simply need to Git Gud, but I just don't like how it seems like an instant, basically unavoidable death every time poison happens.

Sorbent is possibly the least rare item in the game, you can craft it for free in the ship
yeah but that's probably going to be patched out soon

Doubt it, it was intentionally made available because they made antibiotics cost something so you can at least always have an option to fight infection

People here going "yeah just keep an inventory slot full of an item to fix a problem 400% more virulent than it should be" are the kind of people who'll defend Blighttown as being reasonably designed, too.

Most of this issue could be fixed by adding a little flag over autopathing that says "you are going to walk through a hazard" rather than whatever dumb thing was brought up earlier.
actually, blighttown wasn't that bad since DS1 poison was really mild and the best NPC in the game sells copious amounts of M O S S. That and the only part with the more extreme amounts of poison was the lower area.

Stoneshard doesnt have auto pathing against traps and that game has been around for years...
those spiders, damm
I just got trapped in a room because a toxic barrel was destroyed in the firefight. It was the last objective I needed to complete the mission. Only way out and back to the elevator was through 5 tiles of green ♥♥♥♥. A single step took off anywhere from 15-30 damage it seemed like, went through all my first aid kits and water while popping sorbent and still died. 20 minutes of killing ineffective mooks just to die to a hazard that only appeared cuz of RNG (a stray round) and shouldn't even be affecting my character cuz he was wearing combat boots. I'm butthurt.

frankly a game isn't fun unless blighttown exists in it

Would you be more or less butthurt in the knowledge that you could've just used the "extinguish" option of the water to create a new stain on the ground when you walk?

I am more butthurt, because I assumed that option only poured water onto myself to put out a fire.

then in that case i still think its a bit of a bad decision, as it heavily reduces the value of two otherwise very important medicines just to mitigate a single issue with how powerful and hard to avoid a single mechanic is.

Lost a ton of equipment because of this, to the point where I just refunded the game because I genuinely was no longer enjoying my experience. I can understand playing a game that is brutally punishing, but this felt outright cheap. If I die, I want to feel like it is a skill issue, something I can avoid or react quickly enough to get out of. Instantly dying to a puddle with basically no prompt is not a skill issue, it's possibly the greatest insult I have ever received after pouring an hour of my time into a single level. Ultimately a game with this level of cheap difficulty isn't worth my time. I hope in future updates they fix this and I can come back to a better game.

Oh that does suck ass, because you track puddles, you will then spread poison to the tile you're standing on, infecting yourself again, you got told the water method and yea, I feel that, it's mechanically pretty weird.

I suppose you didn't have the option of shooting out the walls around it as well?
Bekky 6 dec. 2023 la 21:02
The funny part was that the poison change was semi-recent, they really overtuned that ♥♥♥♥, I wish they'd dial back the puddles or give some boots resistances to it. This sort of thing feels at home in cdda, but in that game you could move bookshelves to block a turret's line of sight or try to mop it up or remove harmful ♥♥♥♥ with something, or, well, wear ppe, you're also way less tanky in cdda to boot.

btw i think all puddles get weaker with each step, (like if you step in fuel or blood, the next tile gets dirty too, but the 3rd and 4th are like half and 25% and then you dont spread it any more.

if this is the same with poison, then technically, whatever we need to survive it, x4, could be what we need to play safe. (not saying its ideal but just thinking about it).

kill 1 spider > poison
if player tile gets poison, use water, step onto another poison tile (to wash it away) and then up to 2 or 3 more tiles can be cleaned? i'll have to try sometime :)

Uhh, i just got instakilled with a spider corpse by stepping on it and walking 2 tiles, had 50hp and full satiety but no armor whatsoever. Feels very lame. I'm OK with losing equipment, but having to level my operatives every time they're instakilled because reasons doesn't feel right at all.
