Plasma Gun melting me

I may be stupid but isn't the carnage pattern armour set supposed to help against heat damage? I've been having trouble fighting those civil resistance elite guys with the red plasma rifles, even with carnage pattern.

Do the red plasma guns just get a bonus I missed or are they really just that busted? Every time I stumble into one I either have to flashbang them or quickly try melting them with a jeffhammer or my own plasma gun.

The Omega II used by the CR Elites is capable of burst fire, no amount of armor will save you from three 26-40 DMG plasma bolts to the face.

Your best bet is to sneak (Let's you see enemies signiatures through walls) and clear problematic rooms with grenades.

26-40x3. Let's assume it's max damage, so 40. 40-13=27, 27x3=81. It's not looking good. BUT! Immune Response at level 1 raises resistances by 20% rounded nearest, which puts you at 16 fire resistance. 72 damage is still going to kill you most of the time. Percy Fawcett has +5 fire resistance, 18+20%=22. 18x3=54. Okay, let's say the first two shots cause severe burns and increase incoming damage by 40%. 18+25+32=75 EXACTLY.

Survey says, some amount of armor will save you from three 26-40 DMG plasma bolts to the face. XD
