Does this game supersedes Rift wizard 1? Should I buy the RW1 first?
I wonder if Rift wizard 2 is "Rift wizard 1 but larger and better" or are they different enough?

Whilst the games are quite similar they do have some distinct mechanical differences that vastly alter the approach to gameplay. RW2 is moreso a different way of playing RW1. Also note that RW2 only recently released with future content updates planned.

For a finished experience I'd suggest RW1 for the time being and also have a look at the Discord if you want to mod the game.

Cool, thank you!
The first game doesn't refill your spells when you beat a level. That might be the most surprising difference.

That sounds harder

It's harder to start out but RW2 is overall the more difficult experience. Since you now get health and spell refills at the end of each level the health and mana potion spawnrates got nerfed hard and you can feel that, not to mention the new enemy mutation mechanic.

that's interesting. so there's less mana pots because you had to drink them to get spells back. Well it's a relief to know I'm not playing the easy mode one

RW1 for me was way harder than RW2. Took me only about 20 hours to beat RW2, and it was a super easy victory. Meanwhile it took me nearly four times than amount of time to beat RW1, and it was an extremely hard fought victory after looking up other people's winning runs.

In RW1, after level 10 it feels like you're getting killed unless you win within the first couple turns. And in RW2, I never felt that way, even at the level 20.
