What is up with Silver Spear?
Let me start off by noting that Silver Spear is probably my favorite spell in the whole game and I've beaten the game multiple times with Silver Spear only. I have to say, though, the upgrade that links to your holy blast, as the wording goes, only affects vanquished enemies, so its only good if you've taken holy blast and gotten the spirit upgrade... Why can't it just have the affect of your holy blast? It would be AWESOME if I could heal and/or shield my allies with my silver spear, rather than kill half of them because they may or may not be dark or arcane? And why doesn't the base holy aura affect UNDEAD or DEMON? I get it, its a power balance and it would be way OP at base, but if its going to synergize with holy blast, why can't it just do Silver Spear's damage with Holy Blast's upgrade? That's a total of 5 points for both spells and 7 points for both upgrades for a grand total of 12 points for silver spear to turn dark and arcane minions, exclusively, into spirits and no one else. While that is awesome, it feels a little overpriced when I could just spend 11 to do electric damage everything in Silver Spear's path and use Holy Blast itself, to make potential spirits out of everything it kills.
Lots of other spells synergize with other spells without actually having to have those spells and you only need to buy them if you want the upgrade, but this hard locks you into buying the full package. I love this spell, but I really dislike that one detail. At the very least, it should affect anything that has a weakness to holy... i.e. Dark, Arcane, Undead and Demon.

As always, thanks for this amazing game that has consumed nearly every spare minute of my life since day one. Keep up the great work.

Heavenly Blast does have an AOE, so you do at least get the benefit of some extra splash damage. Any dark/arcane enemies are probably already obliterated by Silver Spear's higher damage but if you were to shoot consecrated Silver Spear down a line of mixed enemies then the dark enemies getting killed along the way would trigger a bunch of Heavenly Blasts to stack damage on anything that wasn't affected by the spear.

It's not a great upgrade, though, especially since the other upgrade option is cheaper and simply upgrades Silver Spear's AOE to do lightning damage to everything anyhow.

Right, I sometimes forget that it also included the AOE part of heavenly blast. Much like I learned quickly in my recent Blizzard run to stand at least one extra tile away if you're going to use the hail storm upgrade. I guess its just learning how to use what's there.
