[Linux] Black screen and blank error message on start

After months of owning this game without being able to play it, I'm still getting a window with a blank error message that just says OK[i.imgur.com]. This is unacceptable.

My system:

Linux 3.14.24 (vanilla kernel)
Nvidia GeForce GT 630
Nvidia proprietary drivers
x86_64 architecture with 32-bit libs

I've already tried all the workarounds and fixes mentioned all over this forum, but none have worked. Please help me fix this or I'm going to request a refund.
