Why is it running slow?
if i can run all the half life 1 games maxed out, vanilla warcraft on medium and low settings, and counterstrike source on low settings wiht 20-30 fps. shouldnt i be able to run this game maxed out? i know i dont have the best computer (thats why i chose to DL this game) but shouldnt it atleast be able to run this with maxed out settings with atleast a solid 60 frames?

im still on the tutorial and after turning down all the video options to medium or low, i will get about 15 fps when standing in the room with all the quest givers during the kobal slave rebellion. is something not working right with my game? any suggestions. (other than buy a better computer)

It's just your computer not being able to rended all the NPC's at once.
In other words, Your pc isn't very good.

i know this. and ive realized something. there was an expansion that updated all the models. called luclin. they say if you turn them off and use classic EQ models, it makes a massive improvement. i have all of the "useluclin(model) set to false and the AllLuclinPcModelsOff set from false to true. all it did was change my character and merc back to the origional eq model, but all the other player and NPC models stay luclin. now my question is, how do i turn off the luclin models? btw, im using an ATI.

another update: ive been able to convert every race accept drakin to non luclin. but it just so happens that the game drops you right on cresaunt reach right as the game starts. (wich is full of drakkin NPCs) yet when i go under the EQclient.ini, there is no code were you can disable drakin luclin models. does anyone know how to do this?

you cant disable that as drakkin was a good bit after luclin. The only model it has is the original it was released with

Barbarian looks alot cooler in the original model. Im using a mix of the models I prefer. I dont have frame rate issues, except with all the luclin models and you near the house with all the trainers in crescent reach it drops below 25fps. I can only imagine a large raid would be best played with the originals.
If the game is running slow i would recomend you to go to the options in the launcher phase and turn all the model ids to low, PRE Luclin models, ( They look 100x Better anyways) Lower Resolution would also help greatly.

go into your task manager and turn off the programs you dont use

I would only recommend doing that if you know what your doing because if your not careful you could end up disabling your internet and some other thigns you need. Theres a program thats free called gamebooster that can do all that for you safely.

If you don't know what you are doing, use Razer Game Booster (free), it will do it automatically for you when you start the game.

Everquest only runs on one core by default. You can set the affinity to all processors to smooth things out a bit (while EQ is running alt tab to desktop, open task manager, on the processes tab right-click eqgame.exe and select Set Affinity).

Keep in mind the game is 15 years old, though it has had some updates to the graphics engine over the years it is still not designed to run on our new systems optimally. The biggest culprits I've found are shadows and lighting, both of which have settings in-game to toggle off if you're having issues.

Also, if you're lagging in high population hangout areas such as in and around the Guild Lobby, there is an in-game option to not render afk players, pets and mercenaries. That helps quite a bit.

SOE patched that issue out years ago.
