buy a game time card then, pay when you want, but yes in order to get more aa you have to be subscribed

damn...

i love this game, but the aa grind past 1000 aa is so not worth paying a monthly for in my oninion.

You can buy items for SC that will increase the cap of AA's beyond 1000, by 100 per item. Or like Ezekiel, once you hit the cap, go buy a game card and turn gold for a month and blow over the cap, because when you turn back from gold to silver, you will keep your current AA's, you just cant gain any MORE AA's while Silver. But if you want to keep it slow and up the cap when ever you feel like it, that is fine too. Just seems like it would be more expensive that way. It should be fairly cheap (i.e. FREE) to turn yourself gold, just get into a good guild that will help you level and make yourself some plat, and buy a Krono from a player. On my server (Vox) they run around 90-100k pp right now. Hope that clears things up.

thats something thats new to the game... so... 100k... thats not to tough of a farm for me... really the only problem i can think of is how far can i level up with only 100aa... i think its about 70-75 before i run into problems

yea... looking at that it costs 250 i believe... that is way to expensive for what it is... if it gave me a full expantion of aa, sure i would go for it, but not at 100 and 2.50 better off buying gold form people who dont want to buy gold from a plat farmer.

or... go play eq2 where the only thing seperating free players from subscribers is the legendary/fabled items
eqalidan Jun 15, 2013 @ 10:43am
never got into everquest 2
i got it day one, played it till i got to an "i need to do a quest to advance in levels" place
i said screw that, and just killed these yellow mobs, for a long time, than i figured out where the level quest was, did it, and dinged 20 something... i went from i believe 6 to mid 20s because of poor planning...
like i said, that was day one, im sure it has VASTLY changed sense than... but there is something about eq one that i just fine more apealing...
i should try eq2 again.

what are legendart/fabled items? are they raid, or would i find them in group content?
i know fabled in eq one means annaversery content, and they have somthing new called prestige which i think is just a way to force people to get the expantion and pay monthly.
Dreusyla Arashi Jun 15, 2013 @ 10:45am

eqalidan Jun 15, 2013 @ 11:09am

Disagree , annual & monthly subscription is the only way to keep running a game sustainable

and here we are after 22 years old we are still loving the unique open world design of Everquest
Full of danger & secrets , crazy design dungeon …
when playing nowadays mmo like ESO .. that beautiful looking linear dumbed down gameplay design game is numbing my brain !

I literally fell asleep and regret that I don’t return to EQ sooner

Instead I wasted 18 years since I was a 11 kid trying to seek & force myself to like nowadays games ….

I honestly cant say I enjoy modern eq, and I cant say I enjoy old everquest without mercenaries or 2boxing

the truth is the majority of the playerbase for the game kind of sucks, and the people who are actually good at the game tend to not let you in their circles.

so my favorite range to play the game is 1-70, this lets me hit every one of my favorite zones and I stop playing before the game gets woefully tedious. a healer merc lets me use a damage shield and blast though the first 30 levels fast enough, and from here because I play dps most of the time, the healer is a better fit then a tank because I pay attention more with me doing the dps then I do with a tank.

if I want to play a higher end character or go further, I can go over to another server, I think it still functions that way, and I can play with a monthly without paying a monthly. that will take me up to about 90-95, I never moloed a character higher than that, but leveling and aa'ing gets so tedious once you are out of autogrant that I can't call the game enjoyable. even leveling drags to a halt after 80, and the only real way to have fun in the game, group with people, 9 times out of 10 you are grouped with someone who has their thumb firmly jammed into their ass.

I want to love everquest, but their design decisions see the game have about 2 weeks of content for raiders/people who play hard, then a solid 11 months of just raiding, and then the group players meander through the content calling it too hard, rince, repeat, with zones progression locked, that's the main thing missing from the game, just the 'you have the balls to go to this zone, fine, have fun' aspect

after the darkened sea, due to the main guild on the server I believe finishing in the top 10 for the call of the forsaken, they stopped letting you have the explanations day and date, that said, I don't think there has been any expansion since ring of scale that changed game play, maybe empire of kunark, however I stand by what I said with an update, the game is fun to play up till you hit the auto grant aa cap. once you hit autogrant cap, prepare for months of grinding to make your character even relevant, and have fun finding people who arent ♥♥♥♥ at the game to play with.

you will fall into this cycle

level 1-70 a fairly clear path thats fun to play though, no major stops anywhere for to long and veriety
level 70-80 a less clear path that starts to be harder to find good spots unless you know what you are doing,
level 80-85, you are playing in what I consider the worst expantions everquest put out, and by the time you can play in good ones, you are better off moveing to other expantions, I absolutely despise all of seeds of destruction,
level 85-90 you are playing in house of thuel, good zones, but you are mostly stuck at entrance and grounds, can probably go to the dream if you are undergeared, but that zone is a nightmare due to the low trees and hilly area, constant risk of running into see invis crap or just kos mobs in general.
90-95 you are now in alaris, an annoying expansion, and an ass beater, this was comparable to underfoot in terms of difficulty.
95-100 you are now in fear, quite a few good zones here, but hard
100-105, you are in call of the forsaken, and this will kill your enjoyment of the game, you will likely be grinding 6 missions till you are geared up, because the darkened sea, even though it got tuned down its still a spike in difficulty,
the broken mirror if I remember right, has balance issues in the missions/ha's so even going in raid geared its going to kick your ♥♥♥♥ in, likely not even doable at level anymore
eok brings in probably the best exp zone the game ever had, and likely will ever have given how the game gets balanced now, frontier mountains, a goo group can sit there for about 12 hours and go from 85 to 110 but you are going to carried if you are lower then 101, otherwise the zone has stuff you can solo and camps that spawn fast so you are rewarded for being overgeared.
rig of scale is a largely crap expantion with zones I never wish to go to again.

the burning lands to claws of veeshan, my group fell out again and largely cant talk about these ones. looks like the next expansion is luclin based,

here is your roadmap for 1-85
tutorial till level 5-10, there are some good plat drops here for low levels, get a healing merc
start in crescent reach, its possible to go straight here instead of tutorial, however you want 10-100pp so you can buy some spikeskin low level pots, this will powerlevel you to level 18-20
once the undead are hitting lightblue, move out to blightfire and kill gnools and cats, somethime around 25-28 go to bees, this should get you to 32-35
from here I always make a stop in city of mist, its my favroite zone, this will get you to 45-55 depending on how hard you want to kill here and how far up you are willing to go, because you cant cheat doors anymore, keying will stop you from advanceing, I usually leave around level 45
from here I go to Kaesora, the break in will be hard, but once the undead are yellow move in, and just keep moving in you will go under water and come up, this is a safe spot, and you sould be able to single pull from here, stay in this area till you can nearly hold down the two rooms and move out. this can take you to 55 and from here you are going to go into chardok b,
chardok b will take you to level 65, you either need to run to it, have someone coth you to it, or faction so you aren't killed on the run there anymore. be careful moving in, mercs especially journeymen 1 mercs love to let you die due to adds
at 65 you will move over to infected paw, once you can reasonably kill the mobs and not have backspawns, you want to move north, this area will take you to nid 70's possibly eirly 80's depending on what you are willing to put up with.
at 69 you have the option of going to rss, though this zone is kind of a hellhole if you arent geared good enough or arent dpsing hard enough, it is a decent zone to level in and probably the only omens zone thats not ugly as hell.
if you get sick of infected paw, you can always go to valdenholm, I did thousands off aa's in the pit, but you will just be leveling so pit and giants, though giants are a pain in the ass to kill.
your next kill spot will be in secrets of faydower, either fort mech/beza/zeka, really depends on what you can handle, this will be your exp area till 90~

once you hit 90, you are more or less screwed, there are no great spots and once you hit 70 you will fall into the gribble trap, as gribble is probably the best exp you can get, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ does grinding those 3 missions and the 3 other ones waiting for cool downs suck. but the borken mirror, have someone run you through that at 70-75 so you can buy the currency and buy REALLY good gear for the level, this should take you to 105 gear wise, but you will also want to do gribbles for augments.

in all honesty, if i had to level from 70 to 105 on gribbles I would just quit the game again, gribbles are essentially monster missions all over again where the only thing you can get is gribbles for exp, there were no normal groups anymore, it was just constantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gribbles.

the path I gave you is what I take when i level up anymore, sometimes I will do an alternate path I took pre the serpent spine just to shake things up, but generally im never in one area for so long im sick of it.

once you hit level 61-70 pay a month of ever quest or two, get the auto grant if you aren't on test, its the only way I can suffer the higher levels in the game.

Well I’m on FV server and things aren’t as back as you said lol

Most of the people I met are helpful and seems glad to see a returning players / old timer / new blood to eq franchise

One of the guildmate even send me whole set of gear on par with torment of veeshan era , I think it’s worth around 3 million pp

I agree on the deadlock progression tho

The only way to break that loop is to play hard to catch up and raid OR buy krono buy high end armor and catch up instantly +

Or you could just enjoy the game at your own pace which I kinda did ( I totally ignored those power level group in the guild )

( bought 25 krono to focus gear up the main tank my brother play since whole group survival depends on the tank )

We are slowly clearing progression quest on empire of kunark now

have regular friends / families who loves this game and always have them group together ( I suck at solo and I hate solo so I won’t even play eq when my friends & family are busy ) ( I just play DC online / planetside 2 fully utilise the all access membership )

your basically playing the game the same way I do, outside of me enjoying the low level soloing in the game. I won't even come in unless my friend who plays a tank is going to be on, its not worth spending my time trying to do content without him, and odds are I would be pissed at thr group if I tried.

with that said, I think people who don't know need some context, 1 krono is 18$, 25 are 450$
3 million pp is about a week of playing the game full time to make, not sure what plat is worth on fv these days, I remember that server having the play cost the lowest last I looked it up, but thats largely due to how the economy of that server works.
