Everquest 1 or 2 to play this year?

Hey all, long time player of everything Everquest. I have been gone for around 6 or 7 years from EQ2 and even longer from EQ1. I'm wanting to get back to this universe but I only have time for one. There are elements I have loved about both games and I plan to go with the live servers regardless of which I choose.

With the current state of things, which would you choose to invest in?

EQ2 is still dropping DLC. If you are paying subs I'd go with EQ2 just with the QOL upgrades compared to EQ1. BUT to be honest I stopped playing EQ1 after planes of power. I jumped back in from time to time but couldnt get into it after playing EQ2.

You're going to get a mix of answers on that one.

Really depends on which one YOU like better overall. My preference is EQ1 and I still play on Drinal.

If I were going to start fresh, I'd go with one of the newest progression servers so that I had people to group with.

As for EQ2, I tried to like it - several times - but could never stick with it. To me, the general feel of the game is soulless compared to EQ1.

Yeah, I honestly expect but I did want to see one reasons from current players why they might play one over the other. I remember really enjoying both for different reasons and I wish I had time for both.
