hotbars

so i'm new and the hotbars are..strange i cant remove the auto attack from my 1 hotkey on the bar i can memorize a spell onto my 2 slot among a few others..what am i doing wrong or can i just not..custamize my hotbars like other mmos and only use this small one next to the group info window and actions window

click and hold the hotkey and it should place it in your cursor from there you move it to the main screen to click on nothing to remove it, from here you can replace it with ether a spell gem, or action hotkey ie fishing, bash etc

oh okay so spells like fireball or what have you goes onto that gem bar..everything else on the other hotbar's

You spell gem bar is actually spell only hotbar. On the default EQ settings it is tied to a specific set of keys. No need to put them on the main hot bar. In keybindings you can change the keyboard layout to your likeing. I set mine up so that I rarely touch the mouse. It is pretty awesome once you get it set up the way you like. But if you are a ranger, you got to ask in game how to MAKE a auto-range attack macro key.
