Report a translation problem
Since you answered already in this thread and my question is kind of connected I take the chance and ask right here.
I already knew about changing language via steam. But my problem is a more complicated.
I would like to play with english voice-over and german subtitle (because i don't want to miss a clue just because i don't know a certain english word - i'm german as you probably guessed already ;D )
When I change language via steam to english or german all I get is the full package: english VO + english subtitles or german VO + german subtitles. But there seems to be no mixture of both.
I see the buttons in the options menu by which you should be able to choose both preferences separately, but these buttons are disabled.
So, is there any possibility to set VO to one language and subtitles to another?
I already writed solution how to make lang/sub selection, you can follow the solution here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/205650/discussions/0/810923580577786715/#c846963711030019491
thanks for answering and big sorry for not finding the thread you mention by myself ;-)
The solution you give in that other thread didn't really help, because after changing the settings the game had to restart and after this restart the settings were back to english/english or german/german.
But based on your solution I finally did find a proper way. I will make another post in that other thread to explain so other player can find it.
So I will explain here:
After putting all the files in place, you additionally have to edit 'game.ini' which is to be found in the game folder.
A few lines after the beginning of the file there should be the following text:
; Overwrite game language here
; possible values must be equal to folder names in locales
default_language = "en"
default_voices_language = "en"
Now, here you have to change the languages. 'default_language' defines the the menu language and subtitles; the other one defines the voiceover language. The codes should be the same as in the names of the files you copied earlier.
So I set my game.ini to:
default_language = "de"
default_voices_language = "en"
and it works fine. German texts with english voices!
- Click on LIBRARY in my Steam client
- Right-click on "The Testament of Sherlock Holmes"
- Select "Properties"
- Go to General > Language
- Select a language different from english.
Result: nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?
