Do I really need to play any of the previous games inorder to enjoy this?
I've checked out gameplay of previously released Sherlock Holmes games and I feel they kinda look too dated for my taste. I like the modern BBC One show, RDJ's movies. I really like point and click adventure games but those older games in the series look very low budget compared to this and 2014's Crimes and Punishment and the latest one.

I'm not a die hard Sherlock Holmes fan so do I really miss out on something big? Frogwares are rebooting the series anyways with the new game right??

I never played any of the previous Sherlock Holmes games and this one is very much stand-alone aside from the player recognizing the main character/Watson.
It's quite entertaining and so far does indeed play as an individual chapter in the life & times of the Sherlock Holmes + Watson characters.

When I played this game the 3 old games were mentioned just one time in newspapers, documents and conversations.
And after a while I played the first of the old games (Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, which is great btw) I found out that it is related to this one and it would have been better if I played The Awakened first.
So I decided to complete the old ones and then play the new ones just in case I don't run into something like that again.
As for the rest of the old and new games I don't know if there is any relation between them bacause I haven't played them yet.

No you don't but there are certain references to previous cases like Jack the Ripper. Also, Watson mentions Black Peter, who is featured in Crimes and Punishment.

don't buy, the games have serious bugs and OFTEN will totally cancell all your effort and make you start from zéro.
