Report a translation problem
Try playing A Pirate's Life campaign/scenario and then activate Piracy mode. Also try to manually control the battle.

A few people asking about this. You need to disconnect your internet and launch the game (or launch in offline mode). If on the home screen you get an "error connecting to steam achievement database" (or similar) restart the game.
Sadly achievements were bugged at release and never repaired.

It's difficult. But I've managed a few achievements this way. This frustrating game is frustrating. Rise of Venice work better and work offline, but the game is just not as good.
