Great game with a lot of creativity woven into every facet of it. Sadly there's just no one playing multiplayer and not any substantial singleplayer content. At the time of writing this, the peak concurrent player count within the last 3 months was 11 players.

This is only a negative review because when I asked the devs what their plan is to leave the game playable for when the servers eventually shut down, they skirted around the question and just tried to say that they have Subnautica bucks so don't worry about it. Even if the game was a smash hit and sustained a healthy playerbase for years, EVENTUALLY, the servers will close.

Love the addition of boss rush but preata is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, her ability is cheap enough to spam every turn then attack plus all the bous damage that has a range that is what feels like the entire map

Short version: Very cool squad-level turn based strategy with outstanding mini-painting for all the unit. Missing progression though.

Longer version:

It's a turn based strategy with a leader and 10 goons. You pick them from a pretty hefty roster of possibilities and take them into battle against an opposing leader.

Almost all the units have a special attack or ability, so it's good fun to customize a team that synergizes well or to put a thematic list together instead (I quite like my plant-based list)

The actual battles are fun, though the AI isn't the best. You take it in turns to move your troops, attack, use abilities, and summon more troops. Playing against other humans is quite rare as the game doesn't have the biggest playerbase, sadly.

You can also paint each of the beautifully detailed figures to your heart's content. Easily the best figure painting system I've seen in a game.

The bits missing (for me) is a single player campaign and progression. As I said, there are a lot of troop options. It would have been nice to have a campaign to unlock them a bit at a time - this would give players a chance to understand how they work together much better. A short campaign for each of the leaders would have been ideal.

As it stands, all the models are unlocked from the beginning so as well as being overwhelming, there's little to strive for. A campaign to unlock them or leader-levels to unlock related troops would give a reason to keep dragging me back to the game (I NEED to unlock the thicket-monster-beast-thing, sort of idea).

You do get unlocks from playing - character portraits, colour-schemes, and more paints to use. But I feel that unit-unlocks would have given more reason to stay with the game longer.

Overall a really fun game, and I love spending hours painting the figures and listening to the stories of the heroes.
