DS for what is just Rush 3, Wii for the daytime stages of Unleashed but not nearly as long...or fun
if you're gonna play this game please just emulate the wii version, this port just ruins the only 2 things I really liked about it which is the art direction and music (which are both present and sometimes better, even if limited by the hardware, in the DS version)
For me, Sonic isn't about insane speed in which you don't see the levels you're going through. It's real platforming, not a running game.
Sonic is literally about speed tho...
And Sonic Mania isn't really Sonic 4 because it's not called that, and one already exists.
It doesn't matter that it lacked features that previous Rush games had because it's still fundamentally the same game as the previous DS games, and Blaze still appeared on the DS version, so it's spiritually Sonic Rush 3 like how Sonic Mania is spiritually the true Sonic 4.
And momentum. But clearly, there's a greater emphasis on rushing through the stages in these games which makes sense because like you said, it's part of Sonic's character and it's demonstrated in the Boost-era games as well.
It would be great if the Sonic Colors everyone talks about and remembers and which influenced the games that came later were better than the DS version.
Unfortunately, no. Sonic Colors on Wii sucks.
