How to tackle challenge mode? is it worth using anything but green and MC?

I did challenge 1 and it was ok, but challenge lvl 5 was bad, I couldn't do enough damage to Titan to kill it quick, and my teammates couldn't keep enemies at bay, and I had an almost fully upgraded & modded HMG, are we expected to grind every level of the challenge mode 1 by 1 to get enough meta progression to be able to beat the next level?

The experience also differs greatly from the story mode where the enemy always come from the north, while in challenge mode you're surrounded and can only pick 2 girls, since that's the case I feel using anything but MC and Green would be shooting yourself in the foot, there's no line to keep and you're almost always surrounded.

Under these circumstances mobility is key, so Blue & Yellow are out, and Red... well let's just say it's hard to make her work since she loves to facetank, to keep her alive you need bulky shields and heavy investment into mobility & weaponry like dual double barrel shotguns & anything better than the box gloves for melee...

Yeah, just go for a roll with smoke, camo, and Ray/Heavy sniper with max splitters and you can solo clear. The hard parts just getting the right RNG.
