Red Faction 2 Not Working, Need Help

I've been looking around Steam for this issue and so far, I've only found information about the 8MB of RAM issue, and the CD issue, and Black screen. Only once did I find someone else who had an issue, though the proposed solution was with the 8MB, and it didn't work

I get this error stating that my system does not meet minimum requirements. Completely untrue. However, I can't find a way to fix this. Does anyone have any suggestions?


EDIT: I found an option that seems to work fine for me now. I just skip the launcher, opening the game directly from the rf2.exe file.

Same happening to me. I cant find the exe file so only the launcher is possible and this fails with a blank screen. Any ideas?

If you look in Program Files (Or Program Files x64 if you're operating system is 64bit), you will find the Steam folder. Look in there for Steam Apps, then look for the Common folder. Look for the Red Faction 2 folder, and there you are.

the only problem I see for me is I have directx 9 now how do I go back down to 8.1?
