Red Faction II "Incompatible Video Card"

I bought RF2 today, and I'm having some trouble. After the main screen launches from Steam and I click PLAY, I get the error message:

Your currently selected video card (click on Setu, then the Display Settings tab) does not meet the minimum system requirements for running Red Faction II. Please install the necessary hardware and try again.

I am using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, so I highly doubt my graphics card is not powerful enough to run it. I'm using Windows 7 my Direct X is current.
I've seen issues resolve about 8mb of vram and black screens, but I can't find a solution to this particular problem.

Any ideas?

I tried the patch that's supposed to fix the "at least 8MB of available video memory is required to run" problem. I know it's not quite the same error message, but they sounded related and I was hoping to get lucky. Anyway, no success. I still get the same "Incompatable video card" error message.

I read through all of it. There's a guy with the same video card problem on page 8 and another who quotes him on page 9. I couldn't find any solutions though. I don't even think anyone addresses it. Feel free to check it out and let me know if I missed anything.

I just Fixed it, I changed my display setting from some really small resolution to 16:9 and i ran, try that

you buy them from gog.com and they will work with win 7/8 and Nvidia/ATI cards

I had the same problem with the graphics card error, i changed my Screen resolution in the game setup to 1600 X 900 and it worked :)

i did not say rebuy the game...i said buy them from gog meaning buy them there first not here as the note under the game video says 'does not support ati/nvidia cards' etc....

I closed steam, restarted, just clicked through the settings, ensuring everything was to my liking (also known as high as i can possibly run it) then it worked

That resolution is unavailable for my PC. The highest I have is 1280 x 1100 (or something close). Not going to work here.

I'm having this same issue. I know it's not a problem with the video card, mine is more than compatible (AMD Radeon HD 5450)
