Red Faction II

How to beat the Final Boss of the game (medium)
I finally beat this boss on medium: The only thing I figured out that eventually worked was forcing out-of-combat healing to kick in during the fight with the mech to retain all medkits for phase 2 (you may not have even realized you have this as a player because its not mentioned in game, but it randomly procs).

I noticed that the enemy tracking for the phase 1 of the fight (mech suit) was actually controllable to the point that you can kite the mech suit back and forth with the center indestructible beam in between you and it. if done just right while crouched, you can trigger your healing.

A visual cue is to keep the enemy health bar within the beam. the timing for switching back and for (left and right) is pretty short so you have to play with it a bit to get used to it.

(NOTE: it sometimes strays away, to where you need to move further down the center barrier in opposite of where he's going. this should catch the boss logic to move the other way. then slowly)

Once I figured this out, I just took my time and made sure i kept my initial 3 health packs (try to heal up when you are -50% hp) and the 4th on the other side of the center structure available for phase 2. I used only the base grenade launcher and rail gun to fight the mech. Saving precision rifle for phase 2. Be aware this takes awhile. To avoid accidentally losing large amounts of health, time your grenade shot in between the mech's rockets.

Phase 2: if you do the above this part is basically crouching behind a corner until a shot is seen, pop out, throw a fire grenade, shoot him in the head with the precision rifle, rinse and repeat. with the 3 medkits you shouldn't have an issue.

Goes down at the worst boss fight I've ever played, so I hope this can help someone avoid the frustration.

Yeah I can't quite remember my strategy since it's been years and years, but I definitely remember it taking a ton of tries and thinking I wasn't doing any damage because of how spongey he is.
It's doable on Hard as well, but it might take several tries, just because of phase 2 instantkill, because chances are high you'll be down to 2 railgun shots.

Made it, pheeew ! On medium, this guide helped me very much, first i used the railgun until i ran out of ammo, then i used the base grenade launcher(key 7), for the rest of the battle suit AND phase 2, for the boss without battle suit then, worked great, even better then using precision rifle, because i could move much more by using the grenade launcher with his AOE-damage, so i advice try that too..first railgun, then base grenade launcher.

It is doable, you just need to learn abit how the boss works, and always use the middle beam to use the auto-healup, if you learned that, the boss is yours.
