If you killed the Dragon, I wonder why you are surprised about this revelation?

if you completed the true ending in DD1 you know why the Dragon is back, and always will be back. if you can't be bothered to play it yourself watch the endings on Youtube, the NG+ ending is actually crazy good.

Alternate reality with the same dragon\cycle

You wake up one day and a dragon falls in love with you, the dragon then works hard to get your heart proving that you are his one true love (even though he has claimed that with many others before you), since you did not consent you go on a quest to break up with the dragon with the help of a mentally challenged companion you create by touching a stone.

This is a really bad description of the plot!

If you played Dragon's Dogma 1 and beat it, then you'll understand why the dragon is back.

I beat it a longtime ago. The main game ended with you being like that god figure right? After you go through the everfall? I dont really remember how the dark arisen dlc ended. Ive only beat it once a long time ago.

TL:DR for those that don't actually know the DD lore -

You are an Arisen, a candidate for godhood chosen by the dragon. You can either sacrifice what you love most to the dragon and become a slave/thrall to the dragon or you can kill the dragon. If you kill the dragon then you go on to fight God, if you win you become the new God but if you lose then God turns you into a dragon where you will then start the cycle anew. It is a cycle of infinite worlds being managed by the infinite cycle of life and death of Arisens.

So DD2 is the exact same story as DD1....

Okay so the game goes through cycles of god is sitting around and a potential replacement is discovered so he/she sends a dragon to make that person an arisen. That person ends up getting a choice of kill the dragon or live forever until a future arisen kills the dragons at that point all hearts are returned and an arisen ages instantly to their current age. The arisen that defeated the dragon can now challenge god and become the new god and then the cycle starts again.

While that is going on it is also happening in an infinite amount of universes at the same time and that explains why you can summon other players pawns as you are summoning a copy of a pawn of an arisen that is in the same cycle as you.

Think legend of zelda not copy paste. So it will not be the exact same story but elements will be shared.
