Why is the price so high? Are they stupid?
People are going to pirate the hell out of this game way more than usual. Back when games were a luxury people couldn't afford, people pirated games because... they couldn't afford them.

What the hell do they think is going to happen if the game is so expensive? It's 95 dollars here in Canada, never mind what it costs in other places with even worse exchange rates, like Brazil. They're just condemning a good portion of potential sales to piracy...

Mind you, I'm still going to buy it... at some point when I can afford it, the cost of living in Canada being what it is; The only reason I will be purchasing it is cause I enjoyed the first one so much, though. Maybe in a couple of years. On sale. :(

I'm not very educated on piracy since I ceased using it to get games around 2011 (got better living situation), and as much as I doubt cracks of any one particular DRM can be contingent on any single individual in the community, enough people are making this claim that I now have to read about it. So I will. Thanks.
There was one person left cracking Denuvo and that one's gone MIA for a long time now. It's not how you remember with groups trying to be first. At least not when it comes to Denuvo.

Last big denuvo game that was cracked AFAIK was the hogwarts one. It was cracked fairly fast by an infamous cracker. Recently she announced she was going on 'vacation' which could mean anything but it could be years before anyone hears from her again if ever.

Most of the denuvo games that have been cracked without her were only done after denuvo license expired and they removed it. A lot of companies that happens at 6 months to a year. Bur not all games have their license expire.
nah last one was dying light 2 and it was in july...

Ah didn't know that. More recent than I thought.

One thing I did notice though. When they were being cracked. A huge sale would usually happen right after the crack was made public.

Well, actually that's excellent. Thanks for letting me know. Eases my worries about the piracy. Thanks.

If game prices had kept up with inflation, it would be a lot more expensive. $60 US became the norm for games back in 2008. The buying power of $60 back then is roughly equivalent to $93 dollars today. That means that $70 today has the buying power of $47.75 back in 2008. Games are cheaper today than they've been in a long time, realistically. Its your money that's not worth as much as it used to be. If games kept up with inflation, it wouldn't be unreasonable to be at $100 by now.

For Canadian dollars, $95 today has the buying power of $67 in 2008.

Even if this game is highly bought now which is always weird that people preordering like its a box game with limited copies. Having a high price does limit your player base as shown by the newer indie games. There are a lot of people looking for games with decent pricing. With the high cost of everything else people are more picky with their money.

There should be more balanced pricing as it feels like these games like Diablo are just trying to get rich quick riding on past success. Once people find a reason not to like this game there will be refunds due to the pricing.

it might be just hype because this one game is gonna sell alot ,developments cost are high for sure ,but i maintain this one will sell very well so it's might be the aimed price for the future ,btw DENUVO wears out SSD quicker ,not to mention the performance impact @ stutters ,it's old news ,cpu intensive... probably no way to fix framerate to something stable in first months ,that exactly why DENUVO is bad ,event with a rtx 4090 dont expect it to run super smooth day one ,performance should be ok passed 2-3 months and definitly fixed DENUVO is taken off ,as with almost every DENUVO plaged games... just saying

That's actually a pretty good price for the current generation.
Back last year, when the "Omg, games are now $70US!!!!" posts were all over, I checked Canada prices for them.
Depending on the publisher, CA prices for $70US games, ranged from $90CA to $120CA (most expensive were Square and Bethesda).

A well-developed game deserves every penny. Simple!

Isn't Canada a VAT country? Do you not pay sales tax at point of sale?
Bob Gnarly Mar 14, 2024 @ 7:03pm
If you think the game is not worth the price, don't buy it.

It's quite simple.

demand and supply. its simple economics.
people willing to pay means there is a market for it, they would be foolish not to take advantage of this market in a capitalistic society.

you can always wait for a sale.

Supply and Demand doesn't apply to digital content like that. There is a borderline infinite supply.
Warfox Mar 14, 2024 @ 7:09pm
A game is worth what someone will pay for it. If someone pirates it, they were never going to pay for it, so it's not a lost sale. Simple.
